This album gets a lot of shit for being released in the middle of the millennial madness but honestly its a really great album. And i’ve only said that about two folk albums.
I think this album is plagued by the fact that you have to have a specific experience to truly understand it as a work of art.
This album reminds me of a time period in my life where I was forced to go to church and I had felt extremely out of place, and the only thing that would comfort me in the moment was the feeling of community when the choir would start really picking up. Its nice to relive that feeling of comfort in the midst of a prolonged dread.
