Husbands may come and go, but Martin she should hold on to forever.

Whether struggling with sobriety or confronting her own meanness, Pink has never been less cool: She’s hot-blooded throughout, and it suits both her pipes and a female pop genre that rarely embraces this much tangible pain.

In a way, that does make Funhouse unique among divorce albums, as it's the first to concentrate on liberation rather than loss -- but if she was going to go in this direction, Pink may have been better off not pretending that she's bothered by the breakup.

Slant Magazine

Fortunately, there are enough clever one-liners and enough moments of reflection and candor to give Funhouse substance. In fact, the hooks are arguably the strongest on the surliest and most melancholy material.

It’s easy to see why Pink is currently one of the world’s biggest pop stars; she’s feisty, smart, has a good voice, looks good and is edgy enough to stand out from the crowd but not so much that she alienates anyone.

PopMatters

Funhouse is not her best album or even her most exciting excursion. It is, however, her most mature statement to date. And considering the litter of self-deprecating pop staples that she’s left in her wake, that’s really saying something.

'Funhouse' comes off as a little disappointing. It predominantly rehashes the formula found on its predecessor, which results in a number of very good songs, but nothing truly outstanding.

Rolling Stone

Funhouse would be more fun if Pink went easier on the bad-love songs.

The Guardian

Frustratingly, the sound and the fury is followed by a string of damp ballads charting her split from her husband, but Funhouse is a solid album nevertheless.

60
NOW Magazine
The otherwise likeably raunchy and bratty Pink is now officially walking a fine line, leaning dangerously close to the humdrum.
60
The Observer
Her new album lays into her ex-husband with devilish choruses and potent hooks, notably on the spunky 'One Foot Wrong' and 'Funhouse'.
60
Evening Standard

The heartbreak has done nothing to enhance her ploddy songwriting or her tendency to shout where others would sing.

A.V. Club

It's a shame, because Pink can reach unusually stirring heights when in the right register. That register, on Funhouse, is something close to despondence with a lot of tiredness thrown in—just enough to make Pink forego her instinct for winking and simply sound pained instead.

Time Out London

Listening to ‘Funhouse’ her latest post-Linda Perry makeover album to retread that increasingly mucilaginous pop-rock terrain, you can’t help but feel she should just be, well, better then this by now: more Esthero and less sweary-Mary Kelly Clarkson.

Imagine how much better P!nk would be as the vocalist of an 80s or 90s rock band as opposed to a 2000s pop artist. I feel that this album is proof of that.

One good thing this album has is it actually sounds like a cohesive album. P!nk albums tend to go from style to style with no warning (which I actually like) but this sticks to a sound, for the most part. It's a strong album, not among her best, but it's still really solid.

Highlights for me are So What, Sober, Funhouse and Ava Mary A.

P!nk's 5th studio album, inspired by her separation from her husband Carey Hart, was released in October of 2008.

The album is primarily (okay, pretty much only a pop rock album with some softer elements) a pop rock record, and it has work from some well known producers such as Danja and Max Martin. P!nk's raspy vocals and pain influenced lyrics make for a very well rounded pop album. The production here is great and the album has a very good and enjoyable sound to it.

Just like how Try This was a near duplicate of M!ssundaztood, Funhouse is the same to I’m Not Dead. It’s the same style she’s been using for most of her albums, but with a focus on ballads again. The ballads this time are a lot more boring and very simple. It’s her singing over a piano with decent lyrics, nothing that catches my attention. It started off so strong but lost its energy fast. Overall her albums aren’t bad but this is run-of-the-mill music, not just ... read more

Her best work to date in my opinion. Her 2006 album was great but this is even better, this is her magnum opus. A ton of great Pop Rock and Dance music and some of the most iconic music of her catalog. Definitely worth checking out.
