The Long Blondes - Someone to Drive You Home

recommended by a friend. i found most choruses obnoxious, and instrumentation on some songs all over the place (lots of rock bands do this but it isn't done well here). but it has some songs i liked regardless, i know i didn't like the opener the most just because this sound was still fresh to me then because i really liked the finishing song too, them and heaven help the new girl are the songs that accomplish what this album goes for very well. it makes itself distinct from other ... read more

(if you're one of the negative 4 people who follow this profile, i've been gone for a year cuz of skewl, i'm going to uni now lads :D)
i've personally never listened to anything quite like turn on the bright lights, it's a very passionate track from start to finish. i don't agree with allmusic's review though (one at the top of the critic's reviews) that it's "no fun at all", both obstacle 1 and 2 are bangers, and some solos on other songs ... read more

Boards of Canada - Music Has the Right to Children

a childhood classic of mine, yeah i was a really weird kid no wonder i had no friends.
this is a great album though. the quality of the songs on it is about as consistent as their length, it gets a lot more refined and consistent in the second half eventually, which is entirely full of some of the best music ever no joke. not to mention it has no bad songs, just ok ones at worst (the colour of the fire, sixtyten), quite the achievment in an album with 17 tracks. all in all it's a classic, ... read more

Cage the Elephant - Melophobia

recommended to me by a friend. it's mostly ok, but it has some gems here and there, my favorite is it's just forever. very bassy album with quite a unique sound, i like it. i might listen to their self titled debut next.

The Strokes - Angles

this was a weird phase for the strokes, and this album has an unfamiliar sound to what i'm quite used to from them, doesn't mean i entirely hate it. it has some good songs here and there, and some bad ones, you're so right is probably their worst song... ever. meanwhile machu picchu and life is simple are great. it's all over the place and a bit overproduced but the good songs still stand high.

also is it pronounced mucho peachu or macho pikachu?
