A return to quality for Gorillaz though it isn't without fault.
Sonically this album returns to plastic beach with twinges of middle Eastern influence, twinges that felt far more aesthetic rather than inspired. This records understanding of middle Eastern music feels very narrow, mostly implemented during instrumental stretches and interludes, which honestly sound fine if not a little bland and predictable. Reasonably inoffensive blues/hard-rock. Bonamassa shines as an instrumentalist and a performer but doesnt show much skill when it comes to his lyrics.
Lets be honest here. This album is produced as wildly and as, well, experimental as any other jpegmafia album. His performances leave a lot to be desired but he's never been known to be a super talented lyrical-rapper.
This album was set to be dead on arrival, not due to the singles but the sudden 180 we've all had for the persona of Jpegmafia and I think i know why that is.

I mean, Teens of Denial was already their best work, this i guess is that album again.
This doesnt have that twin fantasy (2018) effect where the updated lyrics here and there are fun and relevant and the quality of the original was already good enough so it all around just feels pointless.
