loved big justice's vocals on this, really brought it together
single of the year?
When I first listened to this album, I tuned out after All Them Boys since it really wasn't catching me. After coming back to it, I realized that, despite 21st Century Pop Song, the album as a whole isn't seemingly supposed to be catchy. Though I think Oaklandazulasylum accomplished the same goal better, this album is a calming & interesting listen, and though I don't see myself listening to it too often, it's probably just due to the nature of the album itself rather than a failure in its ... read more
god this album actually goes crazy, the first track i heard off of this album was overture. i assumed the rest wouldn't be as good, but the entire album was consistently great.
discovered belgium tree by chance on my youtube recommendations, i don't know where they came from, but this is one of the best eps I've heard in my life
This album suddenly really clicked for me. It's late at night & I just finished up a movie, & I decided to put it on. I wasn't a huge fan of it before, but I decided to give it another shot. It might just be me being overly emotional from lack of sleep, so I've rated it lower for now, but this is a masterpiece of an album.
Edit: I've got no idea what I was thinking when I put this at around 80 initially, this is one of the best albums I heard in 2023.
Decided to listen to this after really liking Arm's Way, & though I'm (just barely) not as big of a fan of this one, they're incredibly close & both are beautiful. When I went into it originally, I assumed that Swans (Life After Death) would be the best song on the album. I was dead wrong. The main gripe I have with this album in comparison to Arm's Way is pretty much just the lighter usage of strings, but it's clearly just a minor stylistic difference. Something I especially thought ... read more
Shout, Sister, Shout gotta be one of my favorite genders.
Interesting collection of small songs that do a little dance in your ears. I don't know why, but everyone I know IRL hates Food Dehydrator (it's my favorite song on the album).
wooahaahgghghg wish I could make music like this
This album is goofy in a very good way, but a couple of songs sounded slightly too shrieky to me. Other than that, solid album
edit: shriekiness really grew on me, up to an 87 from 83
I really don't know how to rate this album, as I don't have much of another piece of music to compare it to. It's very good, but not in the way that any other album would be.
The first time I listened to this, I was hustling on finishing up homework & didn't pay much attention to it. Vanity Fair sort of stuck out to me, but that was it. I eventually let Vanity Fair autoplay into Goodbye Sober Day, & also loved it possibly even more than Vanity Fair. I kept slowly discovering new songs over the course of a month or two, & I'm pleased to say that every one of them is a masterpiece in of themselves, & the album as a whole must be one of my top ten ... read more
