Greg yelling is a new development but I can't deny the groove, jeff rosenstock in a sense.
At least I know Geordie greep was ironic with his sexual remarks but I truly believe anyone could write this, also I don't need excessive sexual references in my generic indie pop. I also really dislike the squeaking noise on pooltoy.
Would be a 90 but I can't help but find the remixes a bit lacking and not adding what I would want from clipping. Now actually getting into it we're met with plenty of clippings most dance-able tracks that fit well in a club environment. Wriggle has the classic eel sample found on many abstract hip-hop tracks and Daveed absolutely spitting. Shooter is made up completely of gun shots which goes crazy. Overall all of these tracks (except the remixes) go hard.
Where the album shines it's more hectic, but when it comes around to the over-processed singing vocals it turns into something that has been done time and time again. this is extremely disappointing considering their 2023 EP was a standout for me. The drums often sound like metalcore whilst the guitars lack distortion ,in my book, yet the riffs are still consistent for what the band had in their previous works. The energy is what gives this group it's main pull factor and they lose ... read more
If I had to choose from the lyrics equivalent to millennial Tumblr posts or the production that at some points makes me want to go deaf so then I never have to hear this again, I choose just simply going deaf. on the bright side some of the songs are a little more tolerable than what we got with the literal blue man group on ok orchestra.
great album if you have writers block and need material
Feels like a more intimate On Avery Island, I like it better because of this.
Most obnoxious thing I've ever heard.
a quaint little bossa nova track that feels like a bike ride down a South American coast or a warm hug from a grandparent. Smooth vocals from both Mei Simmons and John Roseboro accompanied by some smooth horns and jazz drumming, would reccomend.
the overall composition and production of this album are quite nice with sub-bass slathered all throughout and catchy rhythms making even the old folks home dance, yet one thing that this record doesn't seem to cover is the need for comprehensible lyrics. Overall there is a groove and a story (I think) yet it's still lacking in some areas. (75/100)
strong jazz cuts that would get my grandfather moving, yet overall the songs seem to blend together when not focusing purely on the album leading to undesired cuts.
