It’s impressive how even as far back as this first ep Loathe were a great band. While Prepare Consume Proceed is a lot more straightforward metalcore when compared to their debut album and especially I Let It In And It Took Everything, but despite that sounding like a negative it’s not. This ep rocks and has some amazing work that Loathe would continue to build off of even today.
Highlights: Banshee, In Death, Solace; in Soil.
Loathe’s debut album is in many ways just as good as their flagship release I Let It In And It Took Everything, but there are a few major differences that keep this album from reaching the same score as that one.
Firstly on the positive side basically every song sounds amazing, even ones like Stigmata that I didn’t save had elements that I thought were really good, and of course Kadeem and Erik both do a fantastic job on vocals.

One of the more “electronic-rock” songs on A Thousand Suns, and also debatably my favorite from the album.
Burning in the Skies mixes simple but excellent guitar work with quiet and somewhat subtle electronics and the low to the ground vocals from Chester all together to create a song that’s fantastic.
“The hardest part of ending is starting again.”
Much like how The Catalyst is an epic masterpiece discussing the cataclysmic end of humanity at the hands of nuclear war, Waiting for the End approaches the subject from the perspective of someone at peace with themselves. The song is perfectly balanced between Chester’s delicate vocals and Mike’s rapping that creates this perfect image of someone accepting fate, and that’s really the best way to describe this song. ... read more
