This is mostly just your standard QOTSA album, has those groovy moments but it seems the goal of this one is to make you feel constantly on edge, in which I think it does quite well at while still keeping the music enjoyable. It obviously has it’s highlights, however I felt as if some songs were quite repetitive.
Some very impressive production on here even if I think the album rarely ever reaches it’s peak again after the first 3 tracks.
Twin Fantasy isn’t a very unique sounding project, but it doesn’t have to be as the execution more than makes up for it. Neither the more quiet and reserved moments or the more layered and explosive climaxes disappoint. Will’s vocals are also solid, even if nothing too spectacular. His voice feels like a mix of Cameron Winter and Julian Casablancas.
I DON’T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT MINIMALIST PRODUCTION! At least Frank’s voice is nice and I gave a shit about 2 songs.
Just ticks off every box really, ESPECIALLY the rapping. Even if some beats didn’t really win me over, I still can’t deny that this album is extremely well produced. A must-hear rap album.
