This is mostly just your standard QOTSA album, has those groovy moments but it seems the goal of this one is to make you feel constantly on edge, in which I think it does quite well at while still keeping the music enjoyable. It obviously has it’s highlights, however I felt as if some songs were quite repetitive.
Some very impressive production on here even if I think the album rarely ever reaches it’s peak again after the first 3 tracks.
Twin Fantasy isn’t a very unique sounding project, but it doesn’t have to be as the execution more than makes up for it. Neither the more quiet and reserved moments or the more layered and explosive climaxes disappoint. Will’s vocals are also solid, even if nothing too spectacular. His voice feels like a mix of Cameron Winter and Julian Casablancas.
I DON’T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT MINIMALIST PRODUCTION! At least Frank’s voice is nice and I gave a shit about 2 songs.
Just ticks off every box really, ESPECIALLY the rapping. Even if some beats didn’t really win me over, I still can’t deny that this album is extremely well produced. A must-hear rap album.
Despite me preferring it’s more polished and atmospheric successor, TFGBA is still a very solid debut. This one feels a bit more raw than plastic death, kind of like how Bullets is to Three Cheers as a simple example. This album has it’s fair share of bangers, however it sadly feels much more inconsistent than plastic death. Some of these songs have some very weird vocal choices, whether it be autotune or just generally weird vocals, while other songs just feel like unnecessary ... read more
First leg of the album had me worried but no this is a good successor to the first MOTM, however I prefer the first one as it stayed consistent the whole way through while also having it’s clear standout moments. Not to say that this album doesn’t, but on some tracks his delivery feels a bit too slurry for my liking and on others the production can feel a little flat and uninteresting.
Wolf is a pretty interesting album to me because you can see how Tyler is really starting to put more effort in his sound and reaching highs that would’ve never been possible in the Bastard and Goblin eras. I also think the story is a very engaging factor as the songs make you care about the characters and leave you wondering what will happen in the next song.
Speaking of the songs, many of them are great, and excel in different areas. Answer and IFHY, which are the two most beloved ... read more
An excellent successor of The College Dropout. The production feels alot smoother here, and the writing is thankfully just as good, if not even better. That 3 track run of DFSL Remix -> We Major -> Hey Mama is just mwah.
A banger vocaloid album from Jamie Paige, which I would’ve rated higher if some tracks weren’t just kinda eh to me. I do think the deluxe tracks are overall better than the OG ones, there’s just alot more consistency there even tho both batches of tracks have their weak points. If you’re trying to get into vocaloid and not sure where to look then I’d say this album is a good starting point. This album definitely helped me get into it more and I’m excited for ... read more
My only previous exposure to J. Cole before this was listening to 2014 FHD about half a year ago now. And while that album was good, The Fall-Off is a very noticeable jump in quality compared to that album. The storytelling aswell as J. Cole’s rapping and flows are great on here, and while it can be a little underwhelming at points, the production usually doesn’t disappoint. If this is really what J. Cole’s career will end off with, then I’d say it’s a pretty damn ... read more
After relistening, this album has grown on me alot more, probably due to knowing what to expect this time. It’s a very fun and chaotic album, and I’m a fan of this glitchy/electronic style of production, however I think the second half, outside of Punk Weight and Hacker, is a tad weak
I don’t love ⅖ of the tracks off this album but the other 3 are phenomenal enough that I can look past it and say that this is a worthwhile listen
Such an improvement from Of the Mundane in almost every aspect, which was already a great album. These guys are seriously talented for how small they are and I hope they continue to make quality music so that they can gather a bigger fanbase and make themselves known.
This album may have no vocals however that isn’t at all a problem as this is easily some of the most talented production I have ever heard. This album also has a super consistent tracklist and I don’t feel the urge to skip any songs on here. Bravo Vince!
Such a loud, energetic and fun album but also has it’s more calm and heartfelt moments which fortunately work just as well when they happen. Revisited might be stupid long but damn was that track a hell of an experience.
This album has such a noisy yet desolate sound to it and I love it. It really does a great job at immersing you into this dark and eerie world it’s trying to create with all the layers of sound you can make out.
