Kanye West - Late Registration
NR

This is super close to TCD for me, but I’d have to put it slightly below. While the production changes on this album could be interpreted as Kanye turning away from his “blackness”, it can’t be argued that it sounds absolutely incredible. The crashing percussion on “Touch the Sky”, the choir vocals on “Hey Mama”, and the brass instrumentation on “We Major” add so much to the record. And the features! Every collaborator on this lp are ... read more

I hate this shit. I hate it more than V2 even though it’s probably better. I was so disappointed when I listened to this when it came out, it’s just gotten worse over time. There’s some parts on a few songs that I like but god damnit he’s just so unlikable. I never liked Carnival too so get that shit tf outta here. I refuse to listen to this anymore.

Kanye West - JESUS IS KING
NR

This album is over-HATED. While it’s not great, it’s not as bad as people usually say it is. It’s preachy, the beats don’t always sound the best, and the audio quality isn’t great, but there’s just something I like about it. There’s actually a few pretty good cuts on here, but there’s a lot of mid and bad songs. Not too bad though.

JAY-Z & Kanye West - Watch the Throne
NR

This USED to be the most disappointing album in Kanye’s discography. This record has some CRAZY high highs on it. Otis is incredible. The chemistry is nuts. The quotables are nuts. The sample flip is nuts. I love it. There are other highs on it too but there is a fair handful of okay to not great songs. So while this album turns out to be a little less than you would hope for from a Jay-Z and Kanye collab album, it’s still a quality release.

Kanye West - Donda
NR

This was quite a comeback album for Kanye. It was him rebounding after JIK, and him showing the world that he could still put out good music in the new decade. It also stands as the last good album he’s made.

It is sadly very bloated. This album actually has some great songs on it. It’s too bad that they are sandwiched between a horde of middle of the road (and sometimes bad) songs. On a fair amount of these tracks, he displays a great level of maturity which is something that is ... read more
