Kevin Abstract - ARIZONA BABY

quite an excellent solo effort from Kevin. his dreamy production and soothing voice make for a pleasant experience with an R&B album. while there are certainly tracks that feel like they dont contribute much, theres always typically a verse or two that catches my attention. while it is a shorter project itd be interesting to hear the same levels of introspective lyricism and dreamy R&B production on a BROCKHAMPTON project. though only time will tell if the boys will be able to pull ... read more

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - Fishing for Fishies

first half is very boring pop rock with vocoder voice effects to make it kind of psychedelic-y. second half picks up a lot of slack but one of the least interesting psychedelic albums ive heard. considering this is my first King Gizz album i really hope a lot of what ive heard about them sticks true for their releases prior to this.

sssalrite. i see the appeal in this album but i think im very much not in the demographic for it. production sounds really nice im just not a big fan of the lyricism on this album. it feels like lizzo is trying to seduce me which makes me uncomfortable.

Fall Out Boy - Folie à Deux

i like imagining dads in the future pull out cds of albums like this, showing it to their kids, and saying "this, this is real music".

really standard pop rock album, id say even worse than cork tree because theres a lot more on this that feels more forgettable, at least to me. i remember there was some really fuckin weird singing and lyrics on some tracks with violin instrumentation, but it always felt really out of place. most memorable tracks were What A Catch, Donnie (cuz its so ... read more

Swans - Soundtracks for the Blind

this album is about death.

its also a masterpiece of experimental rock. i remember when i first sat through the full 140 minutes of this album. it feels like a goddamn accomplishment that also leaves you breathless and pale. the entire album is really hard to describe with how many outlier tracks it has. it goes from folk to goth to post-rock to even goddamn EDM for fucks sake. even though the description of genre may make it seem like a ween album, this is not a fun experience for the ... read more

my bloody valentine - loveless

for once i think saying an album puts me to sleep is a positive thing. holy fuck when i first listened to this it was, an experience to say the least. i realized how experimental it was but i wasnt sure how to connect with it. upon further listens id discover this is one of my all time favorites. even if it essentially is the most extreme form of shoegaze, i think its interesting to see what a genre can feel like when its pushed to its limit. in this case it just bathes in the mass amount of ... read more
