Death Grips pushes the lyrical and sonic tropes of Rock music to the extreme with Exmilitary, a violent, industrial, experimental rock-rap debut project, and is undoubtedly my favorite mixtape I’ve ever heard, beating out others like Nostalgia, Ultra by Frank Ocean, Faces by Mac Miller, and 1999 by Joey Bada$$.

As someone in the midst of their chronically online music nerd era, I had to relisten to Scaring the Hoes by JPEGMAFIA and Danny Brown. Upon reflection, this album was much more enjoyable and quality than I remember. To be begin, scatterbrained and eccentricity are the two words that can conceptualize the energy this album brings. In their fifth record, Loss of Life, MGMT blends their standard Indie Pop sound with psychedelic rock, coating over it all with digital, glitchy effects and best, most impressive singing of Andrew’s Career. You even see some atypical sounds like triumphant, boisterous horns on Nothing Changes and the 80’s inspired power ballad duet of Dancing in Babylon.

Passion Pain and Demon Slayin' is a grower for me. I hated it for the longest time, and while it still is an iffy record for me, this is still the kind of music I like out of Cudi and what I'd prefer for him to make. (Also note that besides this intro, and the talk about production, most of this was written a year ago.
