“i am not the boy you knew”

so so so very pretty, there isn’t a single song on here that i don’t love to pieces. Alex’s strained vocals juxtapose perfectly with the, at times, deceptively cheerful instrumentals and make DSU such an overall unique listening experience. the piano riffs bounce back and forth from energetic and borderline theatrical (Boy) to slow and gloomy (Waiting for You), but it’s done so well and manages not to sound too random or clunky. also the fact that this masterpiece of an album is the product of garageband and a macbook microphone makes its perfection that much more impressive. all in all, DSU is a wonderful, silly, and bittersweet album that i’ll adore until i die.
