Pinned Review

Lauryn Hill - The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill
The Queen Ms. Lauryn Hill created one of the most well renowned hip-hop/soul record of all time. There’s a reason it gets that praise. It’s truly a wonderful listen.

The album has a unique fusion of Hip Hop and neo-soul. Her talented pen game and vocals really shines bright on the album and therefore serves us with a timeless classic. A true piece of art, One for the history books, that we will never forget.

The production is incredible all the way through, utilising this ... read more

Joey Bada$$ - 1999
When I listened to this album for the very first time, I already knew this was going to be one of my favourite Hip Hop albums from the 2010s

Joeys smooth flow and intricate rhyme scheme’s makes this record special. however it’s not just his delivery, these masterful pieces of production created by some of the best producers in the scene is what really makes this one stand out.

I absolutely adore Boom Bap, I always have and this record nails the genre to a Tee. It’s ... read more

The Chisel - What A Fucking Nightmare
This album makes me want to Brexit tackle the monarchy.

Never have I listened to a political punk rock album before, I actually really enjoyed this one.

The production being really noisy was probably my favourite part of this listen. All the instrumentation was brilliant and genuinely fitted with the vocals perfectly.

The vocals on this record have the perfect punk feel, being really shouty and edgy all whilst also keeping some melody on some tracks.

The drums on this album are ... read more

Catfish & The Bottlemen - The Balcony
It’s aight. Nothing special.

The choruses are pretty good, but unfortunately the record just feels a little lifeless with no character whatsoever.

Friko - Where we've been, Where we go from here
We really are getting blessed with albums left, right and centre recently!

Found this record on the homepage of AOTY and thought why not give it a try. I’m glad I made that choice as this album is very fucking good.

To put it blatant, it’s just indie rock. But fantastic indie rock, like the indie rock that now gets stuck in your head and is now currently one of your favourite of the year so far.

It may only be 9 songs that last nearly over half an hour, however FRIKO use this ... read more

Mk.gee - Two Star & The Dream Police
Lord Quadeca actually recommended this album on twitter so I gave it a shot and to be honest I’m actually pleasantly surprised with what we got here.

I really dig these guitar strings, they really compliment his smooth vocals creating this rather cool indie pop.

I agree with what a lot of people are saying in which the project doesn’t quite explore its ideas enough. However for what we got here I’m still pretty satisfied. At the end of the day you gotta start somewhere. ... read more

Heyo! Wanted to ask if you'd be down to review my album "Unhappy Unwell". It's an album I completely self produced in my bedroom and I'd love to hear your thoughts on it! :)
Hey ByCrxfty!

I just got to 500 followers, that’s unreal! I cannot overstate how grateful I am to have you among the 500.

Now, I’ve never done one of these before, but I am gonna try my hand at a community list. The topic? Integer underflow songs. Songs so unbelievably bad they become awesome. Basically songs that are “so bad they’re good” but taken to the absolute extreme.

I would like to limit people to just one song, but if you think an album statement is more apt for the description than any of its individual songs, that is fine, but please only submit one album in that case.

If you don’t want to participate, please ignore this, but if you do, please let me know your pick!

I plan to have the list published by the 24th.

Once again, thank you so much!
Yo Bycrxfty! I just made my first review on YouTube! The video is about Jay Z and I would appreciate if you check it out! The video is published at 9:30 EST! Here is link:

Holy shit, I just realized. I'm almost at 200 reviews!
How the hell did that happen that quick?! Especially since how long my reviews are.
Alright guys, well, time for a 200th review special! Coming soon.
I'll put up a list of albums to review for my 200th review special, however if you want to, you can just recommend those albums to me instead of telling me so I'll put it on the list. Thank you in advance.

My list is finally finished! Thank y’all so much for all the patience and support! You can now see where your favorite singles of 2023 rank in my user accumulative list! If you are a newer follower of mine, you can add your favorite singles of the year in the comments. Check the list out right here:

Once again, thank you so much for being patient. This took so much longer than I thought. I hope you enjoy it though! ✌️
hey i'm making a list and its about music and its really cool. it's to compile AOTY's favorite albums of january so if you want to here it is:
if you dont want to participate just reply "stfu don't ever send a shout to me ever again" or "who has the time to listen to 5 new albums in a month?"
Hey I just uploaded my second video to YouTube 2nite! I wanted to share it with you so lemme know what you think, the first video actually got some traction after only a few days and I'm really enjoying it so far. Check it out if you can and lmk wut you think!
Hey Bycrxfty, I am once again an AOTY user asking for your time.

Self-promos aren’t something I usually feel comfortable doing, since if you’re not interested in what I’m promoting then I don’t really wanna make you watch something you don’t care about. And if that’s the case, feel free to just ignore me, I probably won’t ever do shoutbox promos again anyway lol. But I recently dropped Part 1 of my top 20 songs of 2023 and spent a TON of time on editing and stuff so I’m gonna self-indulge a little bit here. If you’ve got the time or it sounds like something you’d be interested in, I’d love to know what you think of it! Thank you!
Hey Bycrxfty, hope you're doing well! I'm currently seeking submissions for the project i’m looking to release when i hit 500 followers. I’m aiming to create what’s known as a network graph of AOTY. If you'd like to take part, please check out this short questionnaire there’s more details on that page to hopefully elaborate on what it’s about if this is your first time hearing of a network graph! (Share it with your AOTY buddies for bonus cookies!) Thanks in advance if you do intend to take part, and I wish your day is/was pleasant!
What’s up, ByCrxfty? I know you probably get a lot of these, but this is important. To celebrate the end of the year in music and two hundred followers, I’m creating my first community list! All you have to do is send me your top 5 singles of the year! They can be ranked or not– it doesn’t matter. Also, you can add up to two honorable mentions! Here’s my list for reference:

1. Bending Hectic by The Smile
2. The Gods Must Be Crazy by Armand Hammer
3. Sorry Not Sorry by Tyler the Creator
4. The Blades by Squid

Honorable Mentions: We Shine At Night by Parannoul, Jenn’s Terrific Vacation by Danny Brown

Each song in the top five equals 2 points. Each honorable mention equals 1 point . After I get some entries, I’m gonna tally up all the points to see what the top songs were. I’ll contact you when the list is out! Peace! ✌️

I usually do 1-2 album reviews a day and I like to listen to as much music as possible from any genre.

Shoutout to the HIVE MIND guys and out lord and savour in music Anthony Fantano. We shun brad. The NFR guys are great too.
