The sense of urgency laced into this track makes it feel like it's the opener of the final act. Idk why but my eyes teared up in awe, it hit me way harder than I thought it would. It sounds better the more times you listen to it.
When producer/songwriting extraordinaire is not writing for others he crafts albums that are deeply personal to him. Jon is usually at his best when showing his wide talents in different genres, from writing raps to singing in a indie rock tone you'd hear in the early 2000s to a full on choir boy singing at the church alter.
Jon drops the pixar like magic for a more cohesive and mature album and rises up to the expectations of his core fans and new fans alike.
I like some tracks but this album proved to me you can't replace a legend like Chester Bennington, may God rest his soul.
When it comes to Coldplay you can tell what the album sounds like just by reading the tracklist..
This is way better than the Emptiness Machine, despite Emily's strange background she really held her own here. I really wish they did more tracks like this when Chester was still around tho.
I think this album represents true artistry, instead of following the crowd he ventured off to do what was important to him regardless if people liked it or not. To his benefit it came with great results.
I don't understand a word they're saying but I felt it and it made me cry.
When your girlfriend is mad so they're trying to be scary but they just come off cute? yeah.
Not even his best album sonically or lyrically, hell not even artistically but somehow this is his best album.
I grew up with the Discovery era so it will always triumph their first LP but those who were older, dancing at clubs and going off at raves swear by this album even over Discovery. I can't hear it album wise but watching their live shows this album really hits hard! I can see why it was a game changer.
One thing I'm happy about is how he didn't take 7 years to release another album XD
deadmau5 does Aphex Twin but with a touch of Boards of Canada and DJ Shadow.
What's the point of sites like AOTY if people are just going to review bomb because they got feelings hurt?
