Heartbroken words are spilled as if accidently, and just for 5 minutes are we comforted by some of the final remarks from Mac. Like a silver cocoon, lavishly dressed in sorrowful beauty, until it's eventual emergence where innocence and grievance may fully be realized.
Must I add anything?
It's quite mind-boggling as to how Drake has lacked any sort of ability to capture an interesting sound for what's been well over 10 years. Pre-Views Drake is a Drake I can somewhat understand, though I'm not particularly fond of. Views and onwards however, are records that I allow the full measure of my apathy run amuck. Views and Scorpion are practically the exact same album; CLB dulls my mind, while H,N puts me to bed with a glass of milk and a bedtime ... read more
Before I do dissect this masterful craft of work, I must preface with praise to its cover. It's quite the spectacle to the eye. It delivers just enough intrigue while keeping most of itself foggy to rope in any potential listeners. But within the context of the record, it becomes greater than an satiric provocation.
We see an overweight, middle-aged man adorned in promiscuous attire sat awkwardly and alone with only a kid's toy bound to his seat. He looks below our own perspective, ... read more
I am suffocated by these lands engulfed in blazing infernos! My organs slowly deteriorate layer by layer until ash remains! Our punishments are nigh upon us, for God himself would not help us if his very feet were to touch the ground at this moment! Satan only laughs; we are damned!
Jesus, it really has been nearly 2 months since my last written analysis on this music-reviewing-website-thing. Though I don't stray from regularly listening to and rating music, I tend to take more time to ... read more
In terms of hip-hop, it's a record that exists in its own realm, with its style really only being recognizable by the albums that precede it. It is one that blasts the doors open with quite literally, a "boogie". My thoughts and feelings regarding this track should be mirrored by my love for any other rap collective that can control such an explosive and batshit insane ethos. Its own raw, violent instrumentation sizzled by this murderous saxophone scratches an itch previously ... read more
Perhaps what you'd expect from a pile of song covers from Xiu Xiu to just be provocatively uninventive; maybe they'll dick around on the guitar slightly different with even more perverted lyrics. However, as you progress through the darkened halls of these songs that have been tainted with the band's erratic creativity, it occurs that that notion couldn't be further from the truth. How Xiu Xiu utilizes these covers to their greatest advantage to build an abrasive atmosphere ... read more
I'll fuck up my amount of singles ratings just this one time. Just this one time, it'll not be a multiple of 6.
(this review is more so a diary of my experience with injury reserve and how much I love how far they've come and not much focus on the single, so if you want more nuance on this song, look elsewhere)
Injury Reserve has easily become one of my favorite rap acts in the last year. Back in December of 2024, when a certain man by the name of @dasupabebe told me to check ... read more
Upon A$AP's last projects, there was, if nothing else, effort. If either paying homage to the once greats (looking at you SGP) through his hazy, yet perhaps addicting hymns if given to the right ears, or satisfying the masses with the casual radio hits. From whence effort came, then easily enjoyable artistry could also follow through. Even if I did not seek his style for my own enjoyment, (after being compelled by my friends) I still respected Rocky as an artist who could stand his own ... read more

As much as I adore Passionfruit, the rest of the album does not deliver on the same level. I know it's meant to be a "playlist", but it really doesn't feel like this album has a direction it wants to go in. One moment you're greeted by a late night hit, then the next is a dance-adjacent song with more upbeat components.

I really wanted to enjoy this one, but alas, Drake being Drake, bores my mind to no end. The baseline material is fine; Drake's decent rapping interlaced with the easy-going trap beats makes for nice moments here and there, but more often than not, there's really slow moments in the album that space out the good parts.

It's mostly subpar, but at the very least, 21 Savage was trying to make something out of time given to him. Drake, on the other hand, just dicked around more often than I would have liked. Overall, Her Loss has a few hits here and there, and is bearable.

Oh, great! Another marathon of mundane trap chants from the bowels of Drake's laziest artistical efforts! Just exactly what I want and needed on my winter break!

More of an older brother to the sibling of monotony that is Views, Scorpion manages to be even longer and accomplishes even less. At this point, it doesn't sound like Drake is even trying, if there was any effort in the first place.

Basically all of my issues with Take Care, but now Headlines and Lord Knows don't exist. Planted with the occasional embarrassingly bad performances by Drake on some of these songs (looking at you controlla and one dance), Views nearly accomplishes nothing new for Drake if not for Hotline Bling, which I think is a exemplary piece of Drake actually trying on his songs. Even accompanied by the grand title track by the time you crawl through this sluggish ... read more
