the weird fleeting drum beat is ass. the chorus is so loud to make up for the fact that it’s just the same two lines being repeated every time. and the chorus comes so many times that the repetition of those lyrics becomes too much to bear.

It’s so refreshing to see a mainstream pop artist putting so much effort in throughout the whole album, instead of just becoming a moving assembly line for big hits and completing the albums with filler tracks.
Dua Lipa blends modern dance pop with 80s disco sounds elegantly on Future Nostalgia. From beginning to end the intensity is high: making me feel as though I’m walking through a car wash with a boombox on my shoulder, in a good way of course.

Light-hearted indie pop that makes for easy listening. The lyrics aren’t particularly nuanced, but I think in this case that honesty works in Best Coast’s favour.
It may sound like Siri doing a Joe Pasquale impression, but 100 Gecs show here that they are one of the most daring artists to hit the mainstream in a while. And while others are working tirelessly for similar levels of acclaim, Gecs are doing it while making songs with names like ‘stupid horse’.
