I've been painting this album cover for an art assignment for over a year now, shout out Sam Spratt
Still Bill and his debut are on par with eachother, after this his albums get less consistent.
Lyrics aren't the most mind blowing thing here, but they don't need to be. Production on here is crazy and the replayibility on this album is insane.
one of few 10s in my library, I know my non deluxe version isn't a 100 but with the deluxe we get a whole new perspective on the album and it sounds like something straight out of downtown new orleans and I love every bit of it.
melt my eyes is better, this is my Denzel hot take but I always thought this album was so overrated. It has it's highlights don't get me wrong but it's Denzel's worst album in my opinion, not sure what it is but this album just never worked for me. I enjoy many songs separately but altogether this album is a drag and I do not enjoy it that much.
Fav songs: Sirens, Percz, and Sumo
Least fav: Clout Cobain and Black Metal Terrorist.
My fav zel album aside from mmesyf deluxe, kind of perfect. This Life has been in rotation for the past 3 years, every song is great and his topics on this album are crazy for 2016 zel, just shows how talented he is and its nice to see it wasn't a recent development; this mans had this for a while. (This review is of the Spotify version, i haven't heard the og version)
aw.. the first CD I ever bought - flawless front to back, I commonly see people wishing it was longer tho I am glad it is not. I feel the lightning in a bottle caught between zel and Kenny would be diminished if the album was longer, with risk of filler being added or the sound just getting old. 17 minutes is perfect though and an easy album to play on repeat and gives you that "hell yeah" feeling. The album or ep or wtv the hell it is is backed up but a sick movie to go along with it ... read more
I honestly believe the deluxe is better, one of the greatest deluxes of all time. This is not the deluxe however, the original album is 10 in a sense, with 0 misses front to back and beautiful rapping complemented by incredible rapping all around. This album has moments I still think about to this day, from zel washing everyone on 'Ain't No Way' to the MF DOOM tribute on Sanjuro, this album offers some of the most insane jazz rap today's hip-hop scene has to offer. My only ... read more
For being 22 songs and almost 90 minutes this project is insanely consistent. This project has lots of charm, spark and some humour from the skits. Krit shows his versatility from Bangers with T.I. to some soulful jazz rap to some of the most introspective and impressive sounds I've ever heard with the track "Drinking sessions". At times the choruses can feel like they drag the song on after breaching the 4 or 5 minute mark but not enough that it ruins the song for me, songs like ... read more
