another step in the right direction from the previous album. most songs on this album are actually longer than a minute, automatically making it a bit more palatable (to me at least, no hate to crossover thrash i just think the songs are too short to properly enjoy)

the only thing i can really compare this album to is the works of slayer due to their satanic nature, but rather than relying on raw speed for its hellish qualities, this album accomplishes an even more evil sound through its heavy ASF instrumentation and vocals filled with raw anger.

this stands as the first deftones album that i haven't given a 80 or higher rating (6/10 albums done for discog) and im sure most listeners can see why. the album starts off almost a bit one-dimensional in sound, not particularly offensive but nothing to write home about either. the first few songs are like this up until hearts/wires, one of my personal favorites on the album.
