Has some of Chris’s best tracks, but it’s hella bloated.
That Wall to Wall mv will always live rent free in my head tho 😮💨
The vibe starts and ends pretty strong, but the middle section was pretty rough.
The musical equivalent of the Tower of Babel, an awe inspiring peace of work that absolutely achieves its “avant-garde” title. Not to mention the extremely high bar that I will now be placing on other mega pop stars who claim they want to defy the algorithms and other recent modern pop trends.
Also Rosalia using a good range of languages that I don’t understand (shoutout to her for having the translations ready) is perfect for the Tower of Babel label with how many heavy ... read more
I’m glad Mariah is starting to play to her voice in 2025 instead of trying to rewind the clock. Although I wasn’t too hot on most of the project, this is still a very distinct sounding project, something a lot of older artists struggle to make.
I’m 100% way too tired to be properly rating rn, but just off first listen I realized I am getting really fatigued of the 80s pop aesthetic. This is very well produced don’t get me wrong, but I’m just over the sound. I’ll check back in with it eventually and I’ll see if anything changes with a change in mindset.
(I did a relisten to After Hours recently so that didn’t help either. Lowkey that might be patient zero for my issue as well)
Probably would be a 10 if I didn’t have to listen to it off of a CD (shout out to my Uncle for the hookup 🤝🏽) although I won’t lie, it probably went as crazy in my ride as it did for thousands of people in 09. Still praying for a streaming release though.
ZZZZZZZZZZZ *snore* ZZZZZZZZZZ
Jokes aside, Swag should’ve been the best of the two records and like 12 songs max.
On paper I should love this record, but on the other hand I feel like almost every aspect falls short for me. Most of the high profile features are forgettable, the beats are cool but not too memorable, and Q does his thing, but can get a lil too groovy.
Honestly it might be the length that makes me feel this way, and also the fact the best song imo (THat Part remix with Black Hippy) isn’t on this either (Kanye Sold).
I’ll eventually try again with it, but for now I’m ... read more
A tad disappointed, but it’s a deluxe so I’m not too mad at it.
I’d think the song was over only for it to be 30 seconds in lmao. Slowly getting used to his sound, but I enjoyed the musical mosh posh he went on.
Sounded like Peak Brockhampton while maintaining Kevin’s eclectic and often offputting musical touch, but it wasn’t too consistent from start to back for me. Still had great tracks though.
Great chemistry between the three, and a heavy vibe at times. They did a great job on matching each others energy at all times.
Nothing hit for me with this one, although the structure for Peggy’s modern sound is slowly being built here, it’s too bare for me to really find my groove with it.
