I’m not usually a fan of rage, but this project really stood out to me. The mixing is great and the production really captures that raging energy without sounding like a mess. My only thing is I’m not a huge fan of the heavy autotune. I know it’s a staple of the genre but it comes off as a bit off putting, but that might just be something I need to get used to.
I've never given a 100 to an album before, but here it is. Heaven or Las Vegas includes the best parts of my favorite genre (cloud rap) in it dreamy production. However, the production here is just infinitely better than anything else I've ever heard. It ascends beyond the damn clouds holy smokes. In addition, the vocals are immaculate. Fraser's voice blends so well with the production making each track a hit after hit. Overall, the best tracks are the title track and ... read more
Let God Sort Em Out has both masterful production plus a great mix of both hard-hitting yet emotional lyricism.
This was one of the first albums I've ever fully listened through, so it's always going to be a bit nostalgic for me. Coincidentally, it's also Kendrick's first album Lol. Overall, I really enjoyed this project for its production over anything. There are so many timeless bangers here that I'm still putting on to this day.
I'm absolutely not the target demographic for this project, but you know what? It's still amazing.
MMTBS might be Kendrick's most important album for himself. His prior works have always have been about massive societal issues, but now we really see Kendrick really dive deep into himself as a person. It's really nice to see this level of maturity in someone who is still so young yet is so mature.
To be honest, I probably don't fully get the message of DAMN. What I do know is that it's menacing, introspective, and is packed with detail. Oh, and Duckworth is one of the greatest songs of all time.
This song has a super trancing beat, and Frank perfectly blends his vocals in with it. This is genuinely one of my favorite songs of all time.
I first heard these guys on Leaf by ASAP Rocky and decided to come here first. It’s rambunctious, dreamy, and really ethereal. This project is a certified cloud rap banger and definitely worth a listen.
Incredibly experimental and daring, and a lot of these drum-less tracks really make Blonde stand out from the rest of modern pop.
First Vince Staples project did not disappoint! The super mellow sound was really chill to listen through, despite the harsh topics Vince is discussing. Also, Étoufée and Little Homes are both 10/10 songs. I really like when Vince raps with a more energetic beat, and I hope we see that in Crybaby.
This was my first Thundercat project, and I really liked it! He has a super unique style that is well executed upon throughout the album. However, it starts to drop a bit in quality nearing the end, especially with that OnlyFans line yikes. Still a great project though!
