i may be a bit low on this album compared to others. i like it, i can tell its good, but i think the emotional moments hit a little less for me. i love kyoto and the end of the album, but the middle kinda blends a tiny bit which takes away from how its supposed to make me feel. still very good though. my criticisms should not distract from how beautiful some of these songs sound especially i know the end
when i listened to how to pretend for the first time i think i floated out of my chair that shit is HEAVENLY. and so is the rest of the ep. only song i didnt vibe with as much was hot boy. but the sound on this ep is beautiful and refreshing. at different times i was looping literally every song on this ep because they all were like ear worms
one of my favorites if not my favorite radiohead album. its very cohesive and i can listen to it over and over again without it feeling repetitive. theres this 3 song sequence from nude to all i need which is like. beautiful. and practically perfect for 10 minutes. the only one which doesnt rlly stand up to the rest imo is videotape (and maybe house of cards) but thats still pretty nice and i can listen to it
this album starts very strong for me and i really liked the track the moon, along with headless horseman and my roots are strong and deep. but after around 7 tracks in this album really goes hard for this atmospheric approach, which distracts from a lot of the appeal of actually listening
i dont think id want to relisten to a lot of these tracks unless im in legit the perfect circumstances. and even then i feel there are better options which sound better while still pulling off the atmosphere ... read more
illinois is one of the most atmospheric albums ive ever heard. ive never felt so proud to live in illinois dawg like this shit is incredible
there are, to me, two standout tracks: come on feel the illinoise and chicago. first listen i thought the former was better but now i find myself resonating more with the latter. thats not to say either are bad. theyre both incredible songs which really get me in the mood to like. live. basically
another song i really like is the predatory wasp of the ... read more
the beginning and middle of this album are straight heat. like banger after banger. it barely slowed down. i think the very end was a bit slower for me, but its still not bad
i think one of the most underrated songs on this album is lilac wine which i think is fs in my top 3-5. i love the vocals and how slow it moves, and how painful it sounds. it still kinda is dwarfed by the three big songs of the album (lover you shouldve come over, grace, hallelujah) but it competes for sure. other than ... read more
when i listened to this album for the first time i was looking through a museum. and i think that was probably the perfect time to listen. i felt so artsy
i first listened to love songs on the radio and i really liked it. i listened to the rest assuming a similar kind of vibe with the rest of the album, and thats definitely what it showed, but there were certain bits which differed in a way which i liked. specifically sarah and mercy were both different and memorable songs. others were a bitt ... read more
certainly this is a cigarettes after sex album
unfortunately all of the songs do sound like exactly the same. like i think the sound is good but it kinda gets boring after a while. its nice for the background but only a few songs of here i would listen to on their own in my own time. that being said i do really like those songs and i still like cas but listening to the entire album is less appealing than just listening to the 3-4 that i like
very immersive. it has a very distinct vibe and it sticks to it well, which i enjoy a lot. the vibe is pretty well characterized by PPP, which is probably my favorite on the album. the lyrics are nice and dont interfere with the dreamy instrumental which, together, make a very calming but engaging experience. i'd say the whole album feels very much like that except for a few duds. sparks has something about the instrumental which makes me feel off and bluebird is just very middling

i understand that this is like adventurous and daring and stuff especially for the bands first real work but. idk? it feels very unpolished and at a lot of points it just sounds not very good. a lot of the experiments work, dont get me wrong, and i think a lot of the proper ones are seen more heavily in later works of the band in various degrees. but theres a lot of stuff that really flops. the middle just does not do it for me - neither science fair nor sunglasses
the best part is for sure ... read more
a fun little ep!!!! i didnt dislike any of the tracks but there were def weaker ones (so what, music baby) and stronger ones (magic i want u, dream sequence). its fs a different vibe to revengeseekerz but thats what it was trying for. regardless just an enjoyable 25 minutes
good album, but not anything mindblowing. real love is the best song on the record imo, but paul is also really good. i wish the rest of velvet ring sounded as good as the first like 30 seconds
this feels like the teenage, less mature version of songs about leaving. which like duh i guess but still
while there are many songs on here which are very nice and stand up well to many of the songs on to many of the songs on songs about leaving, and have a slightly different yet still sickening sound, there are definitely a few songs which kinda flop. this album generally just feels like a less polished but more juvenile version of that album, which can be really nice sounding in many spots, ... read more
this album seems to be a mend of preachers daughter towards a slower, more melancholy and somber tone. reading some of the reviews makes it clear that the nature of the album to drag is why some people dislike this, especially in comparison to ethels last major work with preachers daughter
but i think thats why i like it so much, because the parts that seem to "drag" are the parts that NEED to drag for the harder hitting moments to be all the more better. it tells a story that ... read more
this album bangs highkey
for me to REALLY enjoy this i had to listen to this a few times over the span of a few weeks. but i really like the vibe and i think its really cohesive as well. there are so many good moments, and even when theyre extended or dragged a bit i think it works. the end of family tree, the "am i making you feel sick" part of strangers, the middle of thoroughfare - the long runtime of the album is not an issue for me
i think the climax of the whole album actually ... read more
a very consistent album, which is much different from what i saw in kid a. it means its a very nice listen from front to back and i never found myself really not enjoying the songs
least favorite is definitely bones not because its bad but its very sameish to everything else and nothing sets it apart in a very good way. favorite is either nice dream, bulletproof... i wish i was or black star, but i think bulletproof is my favorite because it has my favorite little moments where it goes like ... read more
unfortunately a bit of a disappointing listen. really the only standout track i heard was dead forever, with only a few other good tracks like play my guitar, recoil and sister. aside from that it felt very underwhelming, which sucks because i like jane a lot
i feel like im in a cabin in northwestern wisconsin listening to this album
went into this album loving the track for emma, and while its definitely my favorite the rest of this album doesn't fall on itself either. i loved creature fear - that one part where the tempo picks up and it feels so dramatic gives me chills. aside from that skinny love and the wolves are also very nice tracks. my least favorite is probably team just because its a bit empty. but i think its supposed to be an ... read more
like 3/4ths of the songs just feel like theres a tiny bit... missing? i dont exactly know how to describe it. they just feel a bit empty. the two that dont fit in that category are breakbeats which i really like and slowdive which i really do not
