I Like it, but it's my least favourite Rainbow LP, Jealous Lover the B-Side should have been included as it's better than most tracks on the album.
Gave this a listen on Spotify, quite liked it, more enjoyable than the 2 Kansas albums I own if I'm honest, quite an undervalued Gem which features RJD on a couple of tracks.
I've had this for about 20 years and this is the second time I've probably played it.
Not sure why we would want badly recorded mono version of a rehearsal but im giving it another go.
Had a tape of this back in the day, but browsing in HMV I spotted a Remaster for under £4 just had to buy it, I love experimental music of any kind, and blending genres together doesn't bother me.
Overall I think it's a top album and the extra stuff on my copy just adds to the overall experience.
Paid 50p from a Charity Shop about 14 years ago, just getting round to a proper re-isten.
I suppose this music is considered old fashioned to some people now, I first bought Deep Purple's Machine Head in 1982 for £2.50, then it was considered positively antique at 10 years old.
It's strange to think this is over 30 years old and still relatively modern sounding.
Incidentally I have never seen a copy of Machine Head by Deep Purple in a charity shop or car boot sale, even ... read more
Death to False Metal, indeed!
I'm old enough to remember when Manowar signed to 10 Records in their own blood, a good publicity stunt for sure!
I picked this up in a charity shop years ago for 50p, the first track is a bit hard to digest to be honest at 28 mins, I was tempted to skip it, especially when it got to the percussive solo, wouldn't it have made more sense to have this "epic take on Homer's illiad" at the end of the album, sorry I hate being negative about ... read more
Part of my Motörhead deep dive a couple of years ago to actually track down all the head albums I missed at time of release due to financial restraints, Motörhead where a bit like the ramones in that all the early albums are revered and the later ones are mostly forgotten, but both bands always delivered live in spades.
The more I spin this the more I love it, A truly great piece of work which takes multiple listens preferably in a darkened room with no distraction to fully appreciate.
Started off great, then went on a tad too long, I reckon trimmed down to 40 minutes it would have been a classic,
Another Rick Rubin loudness war special, thankfully it's only just clipping.
Worse than DOD, proving even premier league bands can have an off season.
Another cracking album from the maiden, so much better than DOD, nearly as good as BNW...
Why does modern recording technology sound so home made, I know the days of going into the "manor" and knocking a cracking album out in a couple of weeks have long gone, as it's a derelict building last time I checked on YouTube, still a stunning piece of work, with old recording techniques it could have been even better, more a comment on the modern age than a review.
Picked this up in a charity shop for 50p, I was expecting something a bit harder edged to be honest.
First heard of Jimmy Barnes when he was touted as the replacement for Bon Scott, he's a good singer and it would of been interesting to hear him belt out a few AC/DC songs, he was great on Freight Train Heart, but this doesn't really do anything to me, sorry.
Wore out a tape of this, probably my favourite fall album I've heard so far, some people don't get the fall, I don't get certain music but I don't make it my mission to slag it off...
Bought for £3 in FOPP, worth every penny, even a mediocre fall album is better than no fall album...
I can't decide if I like this or his 3rd album more, they are both amazing in my book.
Bought the album, had the shirt, saw the concert at Knebworth, nearly died of hyperthermia in the process.
Great times!
I lost interest in DP after Blackmore left, but I found this at a Car Boot Sale for a couple quid and decided to give it a chance, it's not bad, just not great.
Mines got a DVD with it but I've never watched it to be honest.
Forty Stones songs for a quid, how could I refuse, not the biggest Stones fan and I never saw them live, so they are a just there band, ever since I can remember they just come back when you least expected them to.
