Let me preface this with I am a bug fan of James Taylor and his music and influence. That being said this album for me wasn't everything I had expectations of. Obviously the hit track "Fire & Rain" elicits such raw and powerful emotion with its lyricism and its simple chords. But some of the other tracks were less profound and thought provoking. For me this is my perfect album. For some reason I keep coming back to this album and I can't place my finger on why exactly I love it so much. It could be the lead singers unique voice, it could be the building of a chorus in multiple songs/ the eerie yet fun instrumentals. Or it could just be that its plain good. Regardless I'm so happy that this album exists.

Tracks "walking in the snow" and "a message for the firing squad" are particularly raw and powerful. For me some tracks in the album didn't belong, and kind ... read more
