mystical and a little wistful, like seeing a fleeting mirage of life while lost in the whispers of an enchanted forest.
so full of life and grandeur yet also really quiet and intimate when it wants to be. its strikingly colorful and infinitely charming.
despite its relative age, its already timeless.
Strikingly sentimental, yet flowing with a lot of life. It makes me nostalgic for love lost: somewhat upset at what was missed, but grateful for how it changed me. Its a perfect flavor of bittersweet.
A comforting and cozy night indoors, with low hanging lights that emit a gentle warmth into a dimly lit room. Its all so lush and intimate. I wish I'll ever be able to have the affection this album exudes.
cute and catchy. really well produced too which is admittedly a rarity in vocaloid music.
the audio equivalent to a warm tropical escape. like sipping a margarita while laying in the shade of a parasol at a lively beach.
Villain music at its best.
The greatest highlight is obviously the songwriting, with each track dragging you further into Nick Cave's world of evil deeds and mischief. This is the quintessential album for the man living in your walls that has somehow formed a parasocial relationship with you. It's desperate, it's passionate, and my god is it dark.
This album stands head and shoulders above of its contemporaries in terms of atmosphere, despite it melodically not being incredibly consistent. ... read more
It evokes the feeling of being wrapped in a warm blanket beside a crackling fireplace, being put to sleep by a story from a low voice while a winter snow falls outside.
Or in other words, a comfy feeling of peaceful nostalgia.
In the swallowing darkness of a storm, with a torrent of cold wind rushing about you, a soothing hand reaches out through the deep black of the clouds. Like the longing of a forlorn lover, it gently grasps its hand in yours, and at once the storm is no more.
This is the peak of what I would call YouTube-Recommendation Indie pop.
This feels as if it has been vetted through the great filter of anonymity through people liking a song or two of this thing, and therefore it has become something far greater than it should be. The sound this album has is overall good, but it lacks much behind its bare bones songwriting and layered yet consistently forgettable instrumentation.
As odd as it might seem, but I think of this as a chiller Strokes with about a ... read more
I want it to be known that I am first and foremost not a vocaloid shill. I don't like this just because it has an anime girl in it. Contrary to what you would expect going in, this album stands for everything I love about shoegaze: it creates a fantastic song and layers it with instrumentation of every different kind of flavour. The J-Rock elements only elevate this to me; I have long believed that there is a certain great catchy-ness in the genre which does not translate as well because of its ... read more
Despite existing very much as a precursor to the excellence in production and tonality that would end up being "Crumbling", this project shows a lot of the fundamentals that makes Mid-Air Thief such a fantastic artist. I'd also argue, further, that there is greater risks taken here that were slightly diminished on Crumbling in terms of sonic palette which I find to be the highlight of this entire album.
Any time he decides to get a bit zany with it, like the instrumental breakdown at ... read more
