LET'S GO I CAN FINALLY REVIEW THIS
One thing here is gonna stand out from the get go, the faster pace. Is this some kind of life changing performance? No, but holy shit it's fun.
And the entire thing is only a few minutes longer than the entirety of The Last One from Citta' '93.
Thanks @BreyDT for sending your album!
A man and his guitar (mostly). For what it is it's good! The ambient parts were pretty cool.

First three tracks from this were listed on the master label as test tracks for Coma Berenices but these are different mixes for tracks from Eucalypse and Zophorus. The last two are basically Warhorse (from Timehunter) remixes.
Am Samadhi is an unreleased track, Merz just does high pitched merzing over a drone. A similar thing happens on the Eucalypse mix, though the noise is more interesting. The Zophorus mix ... read more
Thanks to @mthrfckr_rdmr for the rec!
This is some great, noisy ambient, a little glitchy too.

An outtake from Bloody Sea and two tracks recorded in 2007, one of them being a rehearsal for the Dour Festival in Belgium.
The outtake is nothing special really, just a sea of noise. Door Soundcheck 03 gets a bit more loopy and rhythmic. The last track 754 Wave goes even more in that direction, gets harsher and is the shortest.

A similar setup to the one on 15 August 2006. This time the live recording is from the 12th anniversary celebration of the Los Apson? record store held at Shibuya Mixrooffice. It sounds much more like something from the analog era than the previous one, the repetitiveness only joins in quite some time later. I liked the previous one more but this one was still enjoyable.
Yo, this isn't bad? It was pretty nice actually.
The first track is more interesting than some of the most boring Merzbow releases. And it's 23 minutes of nearly the same drone!
The second one was obviously better, as there's some atmospheric guitar playing and Masami switches up his noise more than on the previous track. It's only at the end of the track where he decides to showcase his noise assaults.
On the last and shortest track, the guitars get a bit more ominous and ... read more
Being mostly Feedbacker and PINK, they would really need to do some magic here to bring the score much higher than those. Boris does great obviously but Merz doesn't really elevate the tracks much, sometimes he just blends in (which I guess could be adding a little more power to the guitars). I think this would've still been an amazing listen without him.
I personally prefer 2R0I2P0 which funnily enough is the opposite of Rock Dream. There you can hear Masami merzing more than you can ... read more

A live performance at Kyoto Metro on the aforementioned date. Merz used an EMS Synthi A, analog noise pedals and computers. It has that repetitiveness of the laptop era interlaced with the not so repetitive noise of the analog era.
Is it life changing? No, but it is somewhat enjoyable.
This is some good dark ambient, I liked what you did with the samples. Is a mobile video editing app the DAW of the future❓❗❓
Axel F is a certified banger but the other tracks aren't even interesting. This isn't funny. You would probably forget it's a Crazy Frog album if he didn't show up sometimes. STRAIGHT ASS. I rather listen to Merzbow's Lowest Music 2, at least it's honest with you and doesn't give you hope.
CITTA' '93 is my favorite (official) Les Rallizes Dénudés release.
The legend says this show was LOUD, the volume surpassing earlier ones; so loud that some people ran out to the lobby and three speakers blew out. Even if that isn't completely true, the show itself is still amazing.
Probably the clearest LRD recording you'll hear. You can hear both the band's infectious playing and Mizutani's guitar in their full glory.
I love it all, from the fun ... read more
LAST OF MERZ 2024 #3/3
I would appreciate if you would read my review for 10x6=60 if you haven't already! https://www.albumoftheyear.org/user/chtc/album/701857-10x660cd-box/
Next year I'm beginning a Merzbreak, so I might as well return to a few releases.
Some good stuff, breakbeats surrounded by noise, getting deconstructed.
Kinda funny how all three releases I wanted to revisit were all rhythmic in some way. My rating didn't change on this one. The most recent Merzbow release ... read more

Massive L for the people going "uhhh noise is only good and real when it's harsh and goes ZXCEWQNBVRTY, if there's rhythm it's shit + laptop so it's fake".
Is this THE Merz release with beats? Not ... read more

Named after the Bias Rockaku-kun EXD 5ch analogue drum synthesizer and recorded at the end of 1997 and early 1998, EXD is, like the title suggests, full of drum machines and that means it's a pretty rhythmic album. These ... read more
SIX/NINE REDUX "LOOP" / RIP Atsushi Sakurai
"The complete opposites of North and South... The North and South poles. I had that sort of two sides-of-the-same-coin idea. I kept thinking about that for some reason. Then I figured that indicating it with 6 and 9 might be the easiest way to get the message across." - Hisashi Imai

The first Hijokaidan collab! (I think)
A live collaboration between punk band The Stalin and noise group Hijokaidan. The result? Hardcore songs get noisier, slower and darker, making them apocalyptic. The lo-fi recording quality just adds to the thing.
The Noise has more about all this and more Sta-Kaidan, so I should listen to it sometime and read the whole text. I'm not surprised that two bands that were doing some filthy stuff during their live shows at this time became friends.

🎉 LAST ONE!!! PLEASE CHECK OUT MY REVIEW FOR THE ENTIRE BOX SET!!! 🎉
Recorded in November 2005, when Merz began using both laptops and analog equipment. First two tracks are from rehearsals for the Romaeuropa Festival, the third one is a different mix of Black Bone Part.5 (the original was released as a bonus disc for Turmeric). Excerpts from rehearsals for the 2005 EU tour. 2 long ass pieces that don't do anything special, sometimes junk sounds appear and some modulated bird sounds but they don't save the thing.
The second one has a faster pace and a bass loop taken from Denki no Numa from Frog.
