Part 4 is just a weaker and longer Part 3 from the first volume, the noise isn't even as intense. Thankfully the second track, Part 5, is much better as it's more interesting and it's also harsher.

Somehow related to 1930 (as the DAT index had both Cat of Shell and 1930 on it), maybe it was used as material.
It's what you would expect from Merz at this point in time. Lots of repetition is used here, the third track is more intense than the first two and a bit more industrial sounding. Maybe sometimes these tracks meander.
SATANICPORNOCULTSHOP RE-DIVE PART 6
Last one for today. You thought Anorexia Gas Balloon was chaotic? Listen to this, also guess what, it remixes stuff from that. Yes, this builds on AGB, which in turn built on Ugh Yoing and its surrounding releases.
Zap Meemees not only contains some of their craziest bangers, it manages to turn Kylie Minogue's Can't Get You Out of My Head into a song about the Iraq War and that's not the only track about it! The Iraq War isn't the only ... read more
SATANICPORNOCULTSHOP RE-DIVE PART 5
I'm currently going through all the "important" albums in this dive, I'll go back for all the other releases later.
Lisa Tani joins the band! It's also the first album to be released on the French label Sonore instead of their own Nu NuLAX NuLAN.
Anorexia Gas Balloon builds on Ugh Yoing and it gets even crazier (the remix of Huller is a great example), being as chaotic as the early stuff or maybe even more. This album also begins the ... read more
SATANICPORNOCULTSHOP RE-DIVE PART 4
A new beginning. Satapo is now a band! *S, Chola and Vinylman join the party.
Now according to the band, Alan Folkroe died in 2001 and Dj Ghammehuche left soon after. In reality they are both aliases of Ugh: Alan Folkroe is credited with playing Ugh Yoing and Dj Ghammehuche mastered this at Saint-Quoi-de-Vit, which is a fictional place from the book L'anglais decrit dans le chateau ferme.
Ugh Yoing is like Baltimore 1972 with the sound of Belle ... read more
SATANICPORNOCULTSHOP RE-DIVE PART 3
The last album of the Alan Folkroe and Dj Gammehuche era. If you liked Arkhaiomelisidonophunikheratos check this one out, it's a great entry into their earlier material and it even begins with Comment te dire adieu!
Belle Excentrique shifts from the sounds of Nirvana or Lunch? and Baltimore 1972 into what they would eventually become. In my opinion it's not only their best album from this era, it's one of their best overall.
SATANICPORNOCULTSHOP RE-DIVE PART 2
Baltimore 1972 was inspired by the chapter BALTIMORE, MARYLAND - Hairdo Capital of the World from John Waters' book Shock Value. And yeah I certainly can hear that as the beats sound filthy and it's filled with porn samples.
While still different from their later stuff, I can hear the beginnings of that sound as it's closer to some more conventional electronic music than Nirvana or Lunch.
SATANICPORNOCULTSHOP RE-DIVE PART 1
SPCS was formed in 1996 as a duo of Alan Folkroe and Dj Gammehuche, although in reality (probably) both of these are aliases of Takuya Karusawa a.k.a Ugh Yoing (a later alias). This was after Magicpornocultshop, which was a duo of Franz Eto and Ugh, disbanded. Although on this album many future members appear.
Nirvana or Lunch? is Satapo's debut album and according to a promotional (I think) blurb, this album is inspired by the book Takaoka's ... read more

It took me 36 discs to realize the box set's name is wrong in my reviews. 💀
Remember that one track from the Merzbox? Well, did you know there are like 37 more minutes of it?
Merz bought an EMS Synthi 'A' not too long before this recording and he definitely puts the thing to use here. Seeing that this was recorded at around the sametime (April '95) as Magnesia Nova ... read more
Thanks to @realskrrtskrrt for the rec! The thing on the cover kinda reminds me of the one from Cell-Scape, am I the only person who makes that connection? And then my brain connected both of them to Super Roots 8...
This was great, I didn't really give a proper look at the genres so all the experimentation here gave me a nice surprise.

As the title suggests, this is a recording of Merzbow's live show at Doushisha University in 1995 and It's muffled sound probably doesn't really help here. Bara pops out once in a while with some wails and screams, which I guess add something to the mass of noise which I guess would be more interesting if the recording was of higher quality.
The second track is the Soundcheck, ... read more

A similar deal to the first volume, except harsher and featuring more samples of existing songs. G-Rider samples Suicide's Ghost Rider, Phillo-Jazz Grind sounds like something from Phillo Jazz (who would've guessed), lots of loops on this one. A bit weaker than the previous discs on Metallic.

After a short BUCK-TICK break it's time for some more merzing. Lots of "short" (less than 10 minutes long) tracks here, going in a direction more like the earlier collages but harsher - different than most releases from this era.
Two short versions of Another Crash for High Tide from Metalvelodrome appear which means we're getting some good stuff! The next four tracks go on ... read more

Is this a precursor to Door Open at 8AM? Not really, now, if there IS some jazz influence here then I'm too stupid to find it.

Fuck it, one more disc! An entire disc for a single track off of Metalvelodrome!!
We have a longer version (35 minutes(!) compared to the original's 14) and two extra versions here. Nearly an hour of harsh noise assault, can get a bit monotonous but it's still good stuff, like, it's Metalvelodrome material of course it's gonna rock.

HALFWAY THROUGH!!!
Last one of these Untitled 1991 tapes, don't really have anything to say that I haven't already said about the previous ones. The two tracks after May 891Mix (which got featured on Travelling by accident) are less harsh, the last one also features some jazz and radio samples so I guess that's cool.
"Satapo is always cool, so don't worry!"
Greatest christmas present ever, Satapo dropping! This is a recording of their live show in Beijing this year.
Full of bangers from various parts of their footwork discog with a few calmer cuts, there's even a track from their 50 track zip! (I wonder if it's still possible to buy it...)

Maybe this isn't some mindblowing noise release from Merzbow but it's still some solid 1991 noise, if you're a noise fan you probably won't get angry when this plays.
The highlight here is the second track with it's heavy use of tape loops and junk abuse.

Such a beautiful psych/noise rock release. RIP
