D-Clone manages to push D-Beat to it’s extreme, blending in incredible drumming and noisy guitars with constant screaming that is always prevalent, it’s trying to be as abrasive as it can possibly be, and it succeeds. This is as noisy as possible without sacrificing anything in return, unbelievably great.
I’m not exactly a jazz aficionado so I don’t feel entirely qualified to speak on this but I found it to be highly enjoyable. Still one of their more accessible releases while keeping it just avant-garde enough to keep things interesting. Very interesting listen.
Absolutely incredible monolithic pulsating drone that completely overpowers everything around you. Over it’s near three hour runtime your life-force is completely drained by the end, leaving only your thoughts and nothing. Incredible experience, incredible album, all in all amazing.
I feel like this is the most experimental release of their first ten, even considering number 9. This release is so incredibly simplistic and goes on for such a long time I can't really get anything out of it. The idea of using throat singing in drone is a great idea I think but in my opinion it was executed poorly and just ends up sounding grating.
The spoken word is interesting I suppose but it's not enough to get me to like this, honestly pretty disappointing release but I suppose ... read more
Absolutely isolating, completely traps you within itself from the first few various bleeps and bloops. The hour long piece reaches it's peak about in the middle when all the sounds have finally morphed together in this big cacophony of metallic and mechanical clangs along with the sonar bloops that legitimately leaves you braindead if you let it. Absolutely boggling to me that a piece of music like this can exist, a soundscape like no other.
I wouldn't exactly say it's bad, but the lack of any real climax really pegged this one down quite a bit. The signature drum machine of course is still a very nice touch, although nothing really changes over the course of 42 minutes except for the spoken word segments. An acceptable release, however maybe not entirely my thing.

Pink is an interesting piece in Boris history, because it takes so much of what made Heavy Rocks a fun and interesting noise/stoner rock album, and combines it with the experimentation that they presented two years prior on Boris at Last -Feedbacker-. As previously stated, this album is much more akin to Heavy Rocks than to Feedbacker, except of course on the penultimate track, “Farewell”, but we’ll get to that soon. I would say that Pink ... read more
Boris has a very specific way of composing albums in a way that resonates with me infinitely, the actual structure of this album is so perfect I wouldn't expect anything less from them (assuming you're playing both the discs). The first track, starts off with a pretty standard drone, pulsating like feedback but more controlled. After a little while a guitar comes in. It sounds shriveled and pathetic, completely somber and reflective. The guitar feels reminiscent of Godspeed You! Black ... read more
A serene collection of tracks that acts as a precursor for his later work, extremely beautiful at moments and it's influence cannot be understated.
I think if the first song was shortened by about 45 minutes this release wouldn’t be as special, it’s all about the journey. Which is communicated well in the reissue cover. A long trek starting from a simple riff and it evolves and changes throughout the hour long run-time. I didn’t have a problem with how long the first song was, but I also don’t know if I think that that’s how long it NEEDED to be, if that makes sense. I do wish there was a bit of a more intense ... read more
Surprisingly good, the way the two genres mix is very interesting and I like the way Jay-Z’s rapping and Linkin Park’s rocky instrumentals mix.
people think chocolate starfish has a bad cover? good lord this hurts to look at.
Might be biased because I love Madness and love the style of Madness Combats music, but I thought this was a pretty good collection of songs.
A pretty solid album from MGMT surrounding love and death, the flow of the album is questionable but I find most of the tracks to be pretty good.
