this is a top 5 marvel film. this crew needs at least 2 more movies. this impeccable soundtrack was just a cherry on top.
genius level composition. an incredible commentary on the pressure of creation and the effects it has on your mental health. i liked this album on first listen and i think its message and orchestration will grow closer to me with each listen.
this is easily my favorite gorillaz album. it may not be as conceptual as their works but i think it demonstrates what gorillaz does best better than any of their other projects.
- the opener is such an amazing tone setter
- valley of pagans is so fun and features beck at his finest.
- the lost chord is hypnotic and lushly produced. very plastic beachy.
- pac man has such an amazing beat and schoolboy q pulled out all the stops on his verse.
- chalk tablet towers is such a cute pop song from ... read more
this album has incredible narrative and impressive ideas. a very consistent track list too.
this album is so horrendously mixed tho
jaw dropping production from front to back, the best closer of any album i’ve ever heard, some of the most amazing writing i’ve ever heard on an album and quad somehow makes it look effortless.
there are a couple of pitfalls which is expected to come from an album this ambitious. waging war not being the opening track is criminal. and be honest, no questions asked did NOT need to be 6 minutes.
not a single bad track. not even a single below average track. this album is very consistent. but it’s too consistent. it’s like they figured they could make one type of song really well and do that for 30 minutes without thinking of what lies beyond their comfort zone. by the end of this short album you look back on the track list and think “which was which?”
overall, you could take any song from here and it would be great, but you put them all together as a completed ... read more
this album sounds like driving home from your older brother’s baseball game at 7:45 at night in a small midwestern town in september
this album may not have as breathtaking instrumentation as “X&Y” but that’s not to say the instrumentals in this album are bad. they remain stellar and impeccably produced.
however, this album has an asset something that parachutes and X&Y don’t have. chris martin firing on the same cylinders as his bandmates. he sound much more emotional and convincing on this record. in fact, it truly feels as if he’s leading the band this record as opposed to being ... read more
from front to back, this album has breath taking instrumentation and medal-worthy production. similar to their debut, the music was never my aversion.
it is chris martin’s job is to give these beautiful soundscapes an identity and soul so that they stick with me and i just feel like he is being way out preformed on this record. there are highs on this record and some songs i could find myself replaying but most of it feels like wasted potential.
frontman singer/lyricist gets absolutely out pre-preformed by bandmates: the album
instantly with “disappear” you can tell there’s already more to say instrumentally with this record than “patched up”. when the drums come in, the song develops into a nice lofi beat. the chorus comes in and it brings a nice soft rock switch up. the song develops really well if we ignore the really cringe emotionless profanity towards the end of the track.
“1999” has great atmosphere
“apple cider” is a fun track but it’s so ... read more
“everest” is a nice opener. it’s got a solid message with a catchy chorus.
“tired” definitely takes cake for the best song here with a loudly mixed opening acoustic guitar and very pretty verses. this song also features a very satisfying quaint music box beat drop that i can’t get enough of.
“dance with me”, although not really setting itself apart instrumentally, still holds on with its charmingly innocent and kiddish lyrics.
“art ... read more
i enjoy beabadoobee’s music quite a bit but i don’t think she has ever let it reach a point where it can blow someone away.
the opening song is pretty good but i feel like the following track: “California” would work much better as opener with it’s attention grabbing noisy opening drums and quick landing hook. however, i do wish she was more bold with the mixing on the guitar in said track. which, is kind of my problem with this whole record. she will do just ... read more
This album came out at a miraculous time for me and met me in a slump in life over been trying to get out of. i’ve been battling crippling depression for 4 years and this album has been a lot of my support trying to overcome it. it has since become my favorite album and i owe it my wellbeing.
however, on a objective level; this album isn’t as immaculate as trench. its’s attenpt attempt at any sort of synths or electronica are a miss compared to trench and it has no ... read more
