This is the album that scratches the itch.
I find it truly amazing how humans can come up with stuff like this.
Despite the clear difference between the explosive “Catalyst” and the introspective “Unravel” for instance, this album feels more like a story than a compilation of songs, and none of them feel out of place. Very impressive!
While at times a bit too conventional, this album really has moments worthy of mainstream attention, especially for a debut album.
The closing track is insanely good, and it’s sweet that Shane Hawkins is playing drums on it too :)

Overall a pretty solid project with a well balanced runtime and sequencing, but it feels like basement are looking for their sonic identity again. As hinted by the single The Way I Feel, some tracks aren’t consistently produced to serve their purpose further, and the vocals are, at times, mixed in a way that feels accidentally unfinished rather than intentionally unpolished. Deadweight is a surprisingly great track, it makes you wonder they chose The Way I Feel as a single instead
With the widespread mainstream attention malcolm has gotten over the past year and half, it's easier to foresee a sonically "poppier" realm to his upcoming album, in order to maintain said listeners. This single exemplifies this case the best so far.
