Swans - Swans Are Dead

This was my first time listening to this album and it was in an airplane. Not the most comfortable and focused listen, but it was still amazing. Very explosive and hypnotizing at times. Will definitely come back to this album. Swans are Dead is as good as Soundtracks for the blind.

It is a late winter evening, driving somewhere on a dark road. Driving into the darkness ahead of you. Only a bit of cement in front of you and trees that are off to the sides are lighted by the headlights of your car. You turn on Pink Moon. All of your worries magically dissappear, the calm and quiet voice of Nick Drake takes you away. After the album finishes, you're left with a calm mind and a beautiful, yet depressing tale. Silence follows as you finally arrive to the place you were driving ... read more

It is 2 in the morning and I just finished listening to this album for the first time. My heart is racing and I feel like I'm out of breath. This is truly a work of art. I experienced a movie with closed eyes in the dark. A movie with very unsettling lyrics/story.

I'm not a big hip hop head and haven't heard many hip hop albums from start to finish. I have listened to a few critically acclaimed albums like: The Low End Theory, Illmatic and the Marshal Mathers lp. But this is just different, I have heard a few songs off of mm...Food, but this is just amazing. Mad Lib's production, the rhymes and lyrics, the sampling. Everything is on a different level of amazing. All of this had been said many times before. But I was very surprised when Meat Grinder and ... read more

I haven't actually heard the encore to this album yet, but I would have to say that the first three songs (highway star, smoke on water, child in time) are better than their studio versions. That being said, everything after that I don't really like that much. The mule can be a bit shorter and strange kind of woman hasn't really clicked with me fully. I'm not that big of a fan of lazy either. Space truckin is pretty cool. Those where the cons, wich are mostly due to my opinion/taste. Now for ... read more
