The peak of Jackson’s fame and musical abilities following the Bad album having near enough only hit songs on it, this album feels like what everything had been building up to, songs like Heal The World and Will You Be There marking a change in the message of his music as well as songs like She Drives Me Wild which feel larger than life. It’s clear the album is overproduced but I think that’s what gives it it’s charm, it’s experimental on a huge scale with every ... read more
Any artist hopping on real Trap beats gets my vote and Sexyy Red seems to be one of the only artists doing that, one of the hardest intros I’ve heard in a while with a few great tracks like David Ruffin, most of the production is good but a handful of songs are headache inducing after a while. Hope she sticks to a mixtape Trap sound but I feel she’ll move onto bigger things which I probably won’t be tuning into.
FAVOURITE TRACKS: Her Her Her, David Ruffin, Bitch I’m ... read more
A darker entry in Yeat’s catalogue and the prelude to a certain shift in sound at the time. With the main wave of 2022 era rage music coming to an end Yeat reinvented his style for this lengthy EP as a prelude to the experimental album Afterlyfe, locking in with longtime producer BNYX and others such as Mingo, BenjiCold and Dulio to great effect.
FAVOURITES: Wat It Feel Lyke, Got It All, Come On, System
LEAST FAVOURITE: Krank
With this album Nettspend now puts himself among the top of the Underground, delivering a rage album using the same producers found in most high tier rage efforts recently such as Rokkonthetrack, Skai, Warren Hunter etc. Within each album you hear the same sounds in different variations but this is the album that ditches the microwave filtered bass as seen on Psykotic and Rest In Bass (in parts) and it delivers.
The album still includes dizzying rage anthems like ‘pain talk’ ... read more
OneofOne is a nice little EP in concept, could’ve done with less songs on it but it’s still worth skimming through. The first two songs are what I think of when I see this project, ‘stay safe!’ is a very fitting intro in terms of the vibe and ‘Up To Speed’ carries on from with a subdued ambient lullaby type beat. The rest after that is fairly forgettable apart from tracks like ‘drugs’ which isn’t anywhere near top tier Jace and you can tell ... read more
Not really got much to say about ApolloRed since he signed to Opium but the Outro of this was a good listen, the concept of the EP is also exciting, hope he comes good and isn’t just all hype.
FAVOURITE TRACK: Rambo (G+L)
LEAST FAVOURITE: What You Sayin To Me
About half of this album is peak Ken a lot of the songs in the first half of the album carry that energy while a few later on pick it back up like ‘Thx’ and ‘Evolution’
FAVOURITE TRACKS: Xposed, Blakk Rokkstar, Liveleak, Diamonds
LEAST FAVOURITE: 200 Kash
Lately I been on codeine watching Nickelodeon I'm really really slime
Yeat’s first mainstream effort which brings with it a slight watering down in his sound but nothing that left his core fanbase feeling left out. 2 Alivë is one of the first rage albums to garner enough attention to solidify rage as a subgenre for many, with production that feels out of this world which has become a staple of Yeat’s since his first rage effort ‘Alivë’.
Like his earlier work Yeat doesn’t shy away from showing the mainstream what rage is ... read more
Uno’s best album and one of the best rage albums ever made. After a few projects of him testing the waters with rage beats in the Unoverse series, nearly having it perfected by the time the third instalment released, this project feels like a realisation of the vision started with Unoverse.
The album has a good structure building and fading the rage vibe up until the end, the mid/end section of this album containing bangers ‘Take A Trip’ & ‘Slave’ both ... read more
One of the greatest underground albums to release since 2021, if I were to explain the supertrap subgenre to someone I would just show them this project. From the get go this album plunges you into another world with ‘Nostalgia’ the intro track with 808s rumbling over an ambient almost barren instrumental to fill in the spaces, moving straight into ‘Fluid’ with jittery bouncy club-like 808s inspired by deep house music, the beat doesn’t rest before its end which ... read more
When this released I would’ve called it the greatest rap album, while it is still in that conversation it still definitely holds up as one of the most important rap albums of all time, bringing with it a wave that has changed underground rap music and production for what feels like forever.
FAVOURITE TRACKS: Rockstar Made, King Vamp, Die 4 Guy
LEAST FAVOURITE: Place (felt out of Place on here and had already been heard)
Bit of a mess of a tracklist that makes for a jarring listen with a fair few notable tracks, Carti doesn’t even perform well with his new style through this album like he did for Whole Lotta Red besides maybe ‘OPM BABI’ the brainrot smash of the year, it could be over if this is the new standard for big albums.
FAVOURITE TRACKS: I SEEEEEE YOU BABY BOI, OLYMPIAN, SOUTHSIDE ATLANTA BABY
LEAST FAVOURITE: MOJO JOJO (There’s too many)
I guess I’m in the minority here when I say this album changed my whole perspective on underground music and how I listen to it, it is by no means perfect but as a listening experience this album manages its long tracklist just fine with the switches in tone and vibe from track to track make sense unlike Rev2. From the Regalia intro ‘Famous 2’ which is both epic and slightly underwhelming at the same time (mainly for its short length) straight into a more upbeat and snappy ... read more
A big step backwards in Redda’s style consisting of a mix of trap and supertrap with the supertrap parts of course being the main highlights, had very high hopes for this album considering the producers behind Darko have been working overtime creating new sounds, not too many of which are featured on here. This doesn’t mean it’s terrible or it’s over but it was definitely a step into newer, more new listener friendly styles and beats which which don’t pack nearly ... read more
A worthy sequel in the Demons series in terms of the atmosphere in production bar a few tracks, a lot of the songs on this project take a minute to get going but when they do they pay off. A few of the song have 2022 Jace vibes and a bit of Regalia Jace makes it onto here which I’m guessing are songs that didn’t make ‘A New Fantasy’. Some tracks lean more into his new flows for example ‘Burbooey Kangol’ and ‘Sub Msgs 3’ which isn’t a bad ... read more
