The critics were true that saying Faye Wong is the Chinese equivalent of Celine Dion that they can make a radio song made much better by adding only their majestic vocals and this album proves how great her vocal dynamics here.
The album is literally seperate/divided from the tracklist order
The first half you will expect more much of a unconventional noises such as crowds screaming, judo grunting at the start of the album and combining opera with much more easy melodies
The second half is more psychedelic arranged, more accessible pop songs but continues with more choral vocals but it actually plays safe but works carefully as a pop record itself.
Although Kono Samourai, Okawa and Kashi Kofima are actual standouts ... read more
Oh can we get this album a must hear soon? it's a perfected order well made album even the instrumentals and the vocals compliment each other making the album much effective and interesting to listen.
There's some few songs like that sounded like Cocteau twins in general (like literally pointing at the instrumentals like Je sais pas and Cherche encore)
And some minimalist instrumentals including La mémoire d'Abraham, J'attendais and vole much reminded me from what i ... read more
Party Queen is Ayumi's another masterpiece in her own standards.
İ love how she takes theatricality at the last 2 songs before closing a very beautiful ballad that ends well as the opener, but i don't believe this would be her worst album, because look at the versatility the track order is quite good while being similar to My Story, the middle tracks feels overprocessed, sometimes the rock tracks can be a little corny that's why i rated it lower.
But for me the album was ... read more
I actually forgot I actually add this album way long ago, 😂 but still a classic and feels very fresh for 2021.
Farewell fly might be the hardest song i've heard from Faye herself.
But it's gonna be disappointing that those second half doesn't hold the same weight as the first 5 tracks but I really like the how nostalgic is this track 7 and track 6 still feels to be experimental but less aggressive, less artsy but more like a early form of dreamcore/weirdcore/ internetcore but track 8 was the worst track there.
Track 10 is just a simple ending to close an album (not to mention the ... read more
Im so absolutely devastated like no one literally rated this Japanese release of her like this is so brilliant and ahead of its time.
7 original songs and three covers but it's kinda obvious Faye tried to hypothetically find her own experimental sound but sometimes it relies on Cocteau twins and for the rest is combining traditional Chinese music with much British indie inspired production.
More as a step up after memorial address but with more consistency, while she does giving more strength and energy compared to recent releases.
About you, Game, Liar, Moments HOPE OR PAIN and replace are the best standouts from this album following with a very nice closer that she absolutely executes much better in hard rock without losing her elements.
The first 4 songs considers Ayumi is a mega pop star with massive creativity of her production and amplifies some of the genres into more futuristic, noisy and sometimes I love she commerically incorporates industrial music without toning it down, but following for the other 3, the EP lost off its intensity and energy by including more ballads that falls off its aggression, but following with the closing title track, the album still retained it's consistency but the production with ... read more
Ayumi at her best starting with a very energetic Opening and closes with a satisfying arrangement of a song for ×× which it made the ballad more enhanced, new and better.
The intro was way exciting, unfortunately there's is no buildup and it just ends up with no shock or huge factor, Gracie still Really needs more polishing
FLOWER was the song that shocked me at the moment but nevertheless the edm tracks were really unecessary and a few arrangements can be epic but overdramatic.
Some of those songs a little bit corny but the little guitar solo of surreal was so fucking epic, glitchy and it feels a robot attacking our ears.
The laid down on "girlish" was giving us 60s bubblegum male vocal infused with her identity.
Damn
I don't know which album should I start but I gotta start here, like this I what I totally want from ray of light, it's purely flesh out and the effort is totally complete, such a best progressive pop album at the end of 90s
I'm feeling little off that she sampled Sinead O'Connor's put your hands on me and i thought it's the same singer but in a remix.
But hey 掃興 is the best song there
On this renewed and rearranged EP ced reworks their three songs and a cover of scorpions in simplified arrangement but with slightly bearable vocals, ced's vocals wasn't still strong that leads to instrumental to overshine.
İ literally said to them, this version of ced sounds more great, unfortunately ced wants their vocals to be more drowned or subdued, I'm not gonna decide if this is an normalized issue or a byproduct choice, ced's style of production works an a single, they should release more similar singles like this.
