i wasn't expecting to find anything on the charts in the first few days of january but this really impressed me, great production and flows
mosaic might be my favourite drumming performance ever, just incredible.
i’ve always been a little iffy on prince, he’s a fantastic musician, writer, multi-instrumentalist etc etc. but i’ve personally only heard a couple of songs of his that i think are absolutely incredible, those being soft and wet and raspberry beret. this album was good but i didn’t enjoy it as much as some others do. computer blue was my favourite… great song.
consistently great, but didn't have that one song that i immediately wanted to replay or blew me away
coltrane's preferred version. i've never really been a fan of free jazz, even as a huge jazz (and especially coltrane) fan. it's always felt too wild and devoid of melody, harmony or structure for me to really enjoy. but lately i've been listening to some more and i'm coming around to it. it's still not something i want to listen to very often, but when i do i can definitely appreciate many parts of it.
probably not something i'll come back to super often. but undeniably passionate, powerful and grandiose
it's okay... i was hoping for more atmospheric dnb/jungle but it turned out to be primarily hyperpop. not a bad listen by any means but not really my thing
similar to the original, it's good but not incredible. slightly better than the first due to cogwork core.
overall a very enjoyable listen, but i feel that this album leans too heavily into smooth ballads and leaves out the funkiness that's present in my favourite neo-soul albums.
