The many superhero cartoon samples and skits tell a story on how DOOM was created and his plans to take over the world, which the world could be a metaphor for the rap industry. This whole album really displays carefree emotions and warm feelings. It's short, sweet, and simple. Mac's songwriting techniques are a real reflection of his easygoing personality which really shows in his music. At most times this album can be very psychedelic with its layers of jangly guitars and slowed down drum beats. Earl Sweatshirt is definitely one of the greatest lyricists of the decade. Straying away from edginess that most of the Odd Future members rap about, Earl tends to write down more meaningful rhymes dealing with topics such as his fathers abandonment or his experience with being sent away to a boarding school. To describe this album with one word, this album is magical. In Rainbows truly is a flawless album. This album takes you on a journey and is an experience listening to with all of the varieties of layered instrumentation. The melodies, drums, lyrics, and even artwork all comes together to paint the wonderful picture this album is meant to create. It is all very emotional to take in as expected from Radiohead. I personally think this project is one of the greatest albums of all time.
