I've listened to so much good music today and this is a great way to round it off. My first experience with Rivers Of Nihil was negative to say the least. I had heard a ton about how much people love them, but I listened to their Self-titled 2025 album and I was thoroughly disappointed. Forgot about these guys until today when in a random shuffle one of their songs came up. I was jamming not knowing it was them until I checked and knew I had to check this out. Needless to say, I am so ... read more
These guys are seriously good. I listened to their newest album back in October, sort of when I was getting into metal and liked it, but definitely didn't appreciate it as much as I do now. The sound they create is so dark and consuming. And don't get me started on their album covers. Also, "Stare Into Death and Be Still" and "Cutting the Throat of God" are just so badass.
After my brief hiatus, I have returned more rejuvenated than ever. This album was really really REALLY, mid. I sort of felt like if you overlapped all metalcore releases from this year, took out all the similar parts and put it together, this is what you would get. I will say this isn't one I hated. I enjoyed this for the most part but there was no character behind it, no uniqueness at all.
One and Harvester for Sorrow are the only thing this album has going for it. Some really boring and mundane metal songs with horrid production. If you’re going to write 7+ minutes long songs, at least make them interesting. I’ve listened to some great long songs, and a good song doesn’t make it seem like it’s been running for that long, just one continuous story. And Justice For All (the song) was so boring, it just felt like purgatory for my ears.
Found this in the local bin at a record store. Pretty good garage rock, kinda cool, nothing groundbreaking.
Went RSD shopping with @ayden_greiner today, this was the only RSD limited record I was looking for. Had a great time and picked up some great records including this one.
Enjoyed this a lot more than anticipated. I think they do a great job of balancing the electro, pop, and metal elements. There's definitely some bad apples on this, but some songs hit perfect so I'm stuck in my rating. Probably will change the score over time because this is one I will listen to a fair bit. BMTH is starting to become one of my favorite bands. Oli's vocals are top notch, can't wait for the re-recorded deathcore vocals this summer.
This album is literally just heavy breakdown after heavy breakdown with 0 substance.
I’m not huge on the vocal style and fast “rapping” of it, but with how technical and badass this was, I couldn’t help but enjoy it.
I’ve definitely heard worse, I hate the clean singing but this guy has a killer scream.
Haven’t heard of this guy since Covid, but this was way better than I thought it would be. Not very familiar with the dark wave genre as a whole, but this was sick sounding, there’s so much going on and it just sounds like Halloween to me with some dignified elements. Really neat.
