I just can't get over sam heft's white boy raps. I think the chorus is kind of fun but that's about it, and even then the production is very obnoxious. Someone seriously needs to tell mr heft to stop rapping (and writing like that too while they're at it — his lyricism is seriously the absolute worst thing about this project, I cannot stress enough the absolute lack of maturity and subtelty in this song)
It's decent. Has its moments, but, overall, I found it to be very forgettable — very flat compositionally imo. I'm definitely biased against this project due to my opinions of the person behind it, but I was expecting more based off of the cult following she has at this point. You'd think the music would have to be really good to support someone like this, but what can you do lol.
i have not been so entirely floored by an album on first listen in like ever
This is pretty good for a b-sides album, there's some really fun stuff in here. "Hong Kong" is absolutely gorgeous and, I think for most, the obvious standout... But there are still a few other bits and pieces on here I'm quite font of - "Stop the Dams" always gets me a little teary-eyed, and tracks like "Rockit" and We Are Happy Landfill" are just good fun.
Act 1 really lacks the compositional power of act 2 / 3 / prime sanctums and such, and what you're left with is a lot of messy, poorly-produced music that feels kind of goofy and quite amateurish in nature. It has its moments for sure — I think the more experimental spots on this ost are where Hakita's creativity shines through the hardest ("In The Prescence of a king", "A Complete And Utter Destruction Of The Senses"... "Versus" is fun too, though. ... read more
There are some really good tracks in here... The main theme ("Main Theme", bizarrely) is especially gorgeous; I was listening to it for weeks after I'd finished the game. That's my favourite, but obviously not the only standout - "Speech! Speech! Speech!" was one-third responsible for one of my favourite moments in gaming from 2024, for one example.
Oṃ Maṇi Padme Hūṃ, part II... ON TOP. genuinely some of the best work to come out of this game, and the contributions from mr karayiannis across this album are just awesome. the dlc itself might not have initially turned out great but this genuinely is in like my top 3 favourite albums from this year, there isn't a single miss - Tlālōcān, 屋根の漏り (Yane No Mori), It Can't Rain All the Time... All bangers to me.
not as immediately lovable as the other three singles but it's not bad by any means - weak as a single, but i think it'll be a nice change of pace on the full album
I'm not massively into all of this mod's music, but I think this level of effort and quality work poured into a labour-of-love fan project should absolutely be celebrated
It's good! I find that the lead singer's voice gets a little repetitive, as does the sound in general, really, but the album doesn't overstay its welcome, so not to much detriment.
porter robinson i fw u heavy this shit beautiful and this album's gonna be incredible. it's a bit sappy, but you can tell it's coming from somewhere genuine - i think i was just tired but i cried on first listen, which has gotta be worth something, right?
