Bring Me The Horizon - POST HUMAN: NeX GEn
74

I really thought i wouldn't like this, because I really wasn't into any of the singles... But, you know what? It's actually pretty fun. I feel like this'll be a marmite sort of album since it's leaning so hard into kitschy, emo aesthetics, but I don't mind it all that much myself; it's obviously veeeery melodramatic and corny, but in a way that's undeniably intentional regardless of how much you enjoy the execution. Personally, I think it's pretty ... read more

they knew what they were doing with this one.

twenty one pilots - Clancy
68

It's alright...? Perhaps a little disappointed, as I thought the three singles were all smashing, and the rest of the album sort of fails to live up to them for me. I genuinely had no idea what this thing was gonna sound like because all three singles were so different, and I was sort of hoping for more of those distinct switch-ups, but not really, not much was popping out to me here as distinct and unique. I'll keep listening to it and see if it clicks further but eh, not sure ... read more

TanookiAlex - Minewest Emo

genuinely really pleasant

Porter Robinson - Knock Yourself Out XD

i really wasn't about this at first but it won me over in the end because it's just fun as fuck

edit: this fucks

Mike Klubnika - BUCKSHOT ROULETTE
80

the score for buckshot roulette is really cool. most of it is not anything i would choose to listen to outside the game really, but it exceeds exceptionally well in establishing the mood and tone for the game, really well done

HEALTH - RAT WARS

the more i listened to this album, the more i realised that i actually wasn't that into it, i can't lie. really flat vocal performances throughout, and not many of these songs are really hitting for me, sorry HEALTH.

twenty one pilots - Backslide

i would never have considered myself a twenty one pilots fan at all but they have been COOKING with these singles, this album genuinely might be incredible

Bob Dylan - Highway 61 Revisited
NR

listening to this album was like being put in a time chamber where i was tortured with knives but its not really bob dylan's fault so i will spare him the low rating

Gorillaz - Demon Days
91

Ahead of its time and unique in ways the project hasn't seen in a long while. I absolutely love plastic beach, but I'd say demon days is far more consistent (quality-wise). The older I get, the more i grow to appreciate just how experimental and weird this album is in ways that somehow always work in the project's favour; there's just so many cool features and sounds mixed into this one project, and you THINK it'd feel like a bunch of bullshit thrown at the wall, but ... read more

KEYGEN CHURCH - Nel Nome Del Codice

we get a lot of choirs on this album, which is a nice improvement–my main gripe with both the Keygen Church and Master Boot Record projects is that their sound doesn't change much from album to album, if at all, so this direction was a nice way to shake things up (even if said direction is just a few degrees to the left). I think this project is still held back quite a bit by its unwillingness to sonically experiment, but these are still some great, evil ass tracks.

Porter Robinson - Cheerleader

you know what, i didn't quite get it at first but then it sort of just clicked. this song is great

Gorillaz - Cracker Island
40

it's alright at its best, and that's about the nicest thing i can say about Cracker Island as a whole. for a band so well known for their creativity and experimental choices, a project like this ends up being more disappointing than an album that's just plain bad–even Humanz (an album I'd generally consider a failure) was, at the very least, *trying* to do something interesting... i feel like, at its core, Cracker Island is an album produced quickly and sold just for ... read more

Gorillaz - The Now Now

sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. it's a very boring album experience for the most part

Astrophysics - The Unending Need for Perpetual Motion
57

I understand what they were going for stylistically, but I still can't help but feel this album would benefit from better mixing. i also feel like it's generally quite forgettable? There's a lot of (what feels like) filler to me, and the way that all the lyrics are buried behind reverb isn't helping these songs stick out in my mind either (especially compared to their prior LP which all felt quite distinct and clear to me, even on my first couple of listens). The vocal ... read more

Lena Raine & Samuel Åberg - Minecraft: The Wild Update (Original Game Soundtrack)
60

It's fine, but I can't say I'm say I'm really all too upset that Lena Raine stepped aside after this. These songs do not fit this game at all, and while I'm sure a part of that is nostalgia talking, I just can't deny that I never really liked what Raine was doing for Minecraft.

"@Gonam i think it's mostly a preference thing but i think lena raine just sounds very cleanly produced in compared to c418's or tanioka's tracks which feel more organic to me"
