This album has some nostalgia for me because I saw them play at Madison Square Garden on this tour.
My favorite album of all time. No debate. In March, when quarantine was going on and I was stuck inside, it was really when I started to get into music. Before I had listened to a lot of music, but mostly shitty trap which I would never go back to. Both of my parents are pretty into music, so I was always surrounded by it for my whole childhood. During the lockdown I started to discover online music culture. I had watched Fantano a good amount before, but didn't have much clue what music he was ... read more
My brother is obsessed with Juice Wrld and I'm so tired of hearing the same sounding songs over and over. At least this album is not as bad as Death Race which manages to use the exact same formula for the 20 track runtime.
Sorry for reviewing this so late, but this thing climbed up my list of favorites so quickly. This album really takes a couple listens to completely grasp and understand all the moving parts to it. Ian Curtis unique voice might also take a little bit of time getting used to, but once used to it, it is completely worth it. The album starts off with easily one of the best openers of all time, "Disorder." It tells the story about an unknown woman looking for love. This might have been the ... read more
I get why people enjoy this album, but I think that the vocals aren't mixed very well and just doesn't sound good. I am a big fan of experimental electronic, so going into this I thought that it would appeal to me, but the lyrics are so basic and sometimes the noise and sound just goes over the top. I had to skip most of the songs on this album because they just annoyed the crap out of me and I couldn't listen for over a minute. I understand the praise that this album gets from cloud rap and ... read more
Mixing isn't great and it's pretty boring, but it's ok.
The haunting melodies and amazing story telling by front man Jeff Mangum really makes for this to be most likely the best indie album ever. In the first listen I had to this, I wasn't really paying too much attention and thought that it was a pretty decent indie record. Until about a month ago, I was listening to some playlist and the song ITAOTS was in. I wasn't sure how I hadn't noticed this upon first listen, but it was one of the best songs I ever heard. The sadness and hopeless feeling to ... read more
Spanish Bombs is probably my favorite song ever. This is also one of my favorite albums ever. Clash> Ramones, Sex Pistols
Name an album with a better opening and closing track.
Damn, just listened to this thing for the first time yesterday and have already listened to it like 5 times since then. As the cover predicts, this album has the feeling of a vertical soundscape in which different instruments are all being played at once. Sometimes this makes it almost impossible to tell them apart. Each time I have listened to it I notice fine details that I did not notice were present before. I mean Shields spent an entire week working on the tambourine part for To Here Knows ... read more
Most likely will move up to a 10 soon. This album has had a huge emotional impact on me. The first listen I had I noticed the catchy songs like Wake Up and Lies. It wasn’t until about two weeks ago when I was going through my vinyl collection and realized that I had the 7” for Neighborhood #1 (Tunnels). I decided that it was about time to listen to it again since it has been a few months from the first time. The first song, Tunnels(for short) had so much emotion from Win’s ... read more
