This first mixtape from Drake is a really fascinating look at the somewhat humble origins of the soon-to-be megastar that is Drizzy. One of my friends recommended I give this a listen and so I did. I liked it, though I would hesitate to say that I appreciate it for all it is. I don’t play any instruments myself so I don’t know if I totally appreciate the drums or guitars in the same way that many do, but I can at least recognize that they were impressive. This is an interesting experimental folk rock album that was reminiscent of Black Country, New Road, and while I thought it was good, I didn’t think there was all that much about it that really grabbed me. I really liked Love Story, and I thought the singing and ... read more
