incredibly range of sound throughout this album with the same ensaring gritty rapping voice from zel that i love. he is so talented.
this was immersive as fuck. SOOOOOOOO beautiful. ALL climaxes felt deserved. ALL buildups were COMPLETELY cinematic but real at the same time. WOW.
its absolutely fascinating how you can imagine the movie as you hear the music and gain close to the same emotional impact.
my number one condition for good music is that it needs to be immersive. and this is. This immersed me in an incredible psychedelic journey and made me question myself. one of my favorites.
Soulful, beautiful, the way you can hear the echo of the rooms she's singing in, her band, the piano, the smoothness of her voice. I'm glad that she is my introduction to Mexican music.
It's an emotional tribute to their first nine years together. I like this song a lot better than permission to dance, dynamite, butter, but that's only because I want the US to see how artistic they can be. Such a dimension was broadly expressed via a carefully woven storyline within a series of music videos released way before they blew up in the US. (i need u, run, young forever, blood sweat tears, etc). Callbacks to iconic shots/objects from the past in this music video make me hopeful that, ... read more
every niki single is above an 85. this one is a bit cheesy, and i think her style is actually more suited to thoughtful songs like pools or around, rather than for what might be seen as more pop-oriented. still, a summer bop for sure.
Normie dance tunes, but it's what I'm in the mood for. The beats HIT. Features are also perfect.
im excited about hitc3 if the production will maintain this quality and the songs will be unique. top summer bop for sure.
Some of yall are blaming BTS for their bad lyrics; yeah this is their second completely English song. If you compare their way of pronouncing certain words in Dynamite to this song, they have definitely improved. If I didn't know who BTS was, I'd think that this is just some summer bop from the states. Considering that, I would rate this song the same way I'd rate a normal song from Maroon5, but a bit higher because they've come SO far...
Please understand that they create English songs just ... read more
What a smooth track. This displays some real musicianship...no audible autotune, callbacks to past styles but fusing them; I hope this song sets a trend for future music. Anderson .Paak has come really far! I've known about him for a while, but after hearing this and actually GETTING EXCITED for future releases from Silk Sonic, I can say that I am officially a fan.
bops combined with clever political wordplay. love it. best rap album i've ever encountered.
2020 has been tough on many artists. Many didn't get to see their albums live out their full potential, creatively and commercially. Niki and everyone from 88rising aren't exceptions.
Moonchild is made to be very original, but much of the album seems like it copied off of other artists like Lana Del Ray and maybe Ariana Grande. The title feels like a flimsy metaphor. The album starts off pretty slow, since the dark vibe she's going for doesn't really do anything for me. I really like the ... read more
Best 88risings project, fr. Unique sound, and although soundwriting is lackluster in some places, I can tell how some songs are very personal to her. Some songs are a little to pop-generic to me, but regardless, this shows a lot of potential as an r+b artist, even though this album faded into the big picture very quickly.
Favorite Songs: Spell, Vintage, Pools, Around
EDIT;
im just absolutely in love with her voice (why shes on my favorites list)
