While alot more laid back than his other projects I think this is one of his best projects he has
Great album that I haven't rated despite listening too forever ago. One of his best albums
Didn't like this one at first but eventually came around and realized it's pretty good
I don't get the hate for this album as someone who really likes Danny brown and hyperpop. Then again I really liked old despite some songs being lesser. I think this is ultimately one of Danny's best but he has a lot of great albums.
I honestly think out of Allelujah, Asunder and Luciferian this is the best of those however they are all close to each other. This album is very overhated in my opinion in terms of their albums. Alot of it reminds me of Yanqui in a way just less grand and huge. I think the 2 drone tracks are overhated personally and are really good. Bosses hang and Anthem for no state are really good as well. My main complaint is since this is a shorter album anthem of no state kinda just ends and that's ... read more
Even though this album and Allelujah has disappointed me when compared to everything yanqui and before I feel like this album is still great. It's about on par with Allelujah with me liking asunders drones more. I do think this album is much better when treated like one big song. Great album still. Next is Luciferian Towers
Starting off by saying I was a little disappointed in this album coming off the last 3 but still a fantastic album. I'm not super big on the 2 shorter drone tracks but I still like them. Mladic and We drift like worried fire are really great though. My least favorite so far but still really good.
Really great album. I think monarch is a slightly better album just because of how important it is to me. This album really is all over the place in the best way possible. It has so many different songs to it that sound good for different reasons.
(edited 95-100) Another fantastic album from Godspeed you. I think this one is slightly better than F sharp A sharp because I find myself enjoying it a little more. I think F sharp has the edge with what I feel are more "epic" sections. The atmosphere is amazing on here just as good as the mentioned F sharp. Im comparing a lot to that album and not the one that came before mainly because the theming of war and destruction is very similar. I think Lift your skinny fists is still better ... read more
This album is absolutely outstanding. I was already leaning towards 100 but once sleep played it felt like the greatest music experience i had ever had.
Fantastic album, This is the reissue so will rate the other version soon as I have not listened since it isn't on streaming. To start dead flag blues is a great opening track with the spoken work section and all the ambience. Then East Hastings which is my favorite is another fantastic song with amazing buildup. Then Providence has the standout 5 minutes of silence which is a tad bit boring but when the music comes back it makes it all worth it.
Its like if the burning world was really good, I liked this album quite a bit.
I was hoping I would like this more but I didnt. I like the instruments but the singing just aint great. Its alright not horrible.
After listening to this album twice i feel i can properly give a score. This is vastly different from the older projects by swans. You can certainly see how greed and holy money evolved into this. Theres a great balance of really great loud songs then softer songs. Listening to beatiful child for the first time was for sure an experience. By far their best album by a long shot. Next is the hated burning world.
My favorite of this era even if it was a live album, great atmosphere and very loud, not sure if ill revisit much but glad i listened before children of god.
Not as good as Greed but not by much. Greed and This album are the best out of the first 4 albums, While they can sometimes feel boring they feel alot more well rounded. Im excited to see swans continue to become the band they are so praised for.
Previous review: Just worse filth, Its not super good, most songsadded to my liked songs were okay, cop and your property were my favortites.
New: I relistened and this project grew on me alot there's only about 2 songs I don't really like and that's Job and Thug. I think coming back was a good thing because despite being a whole different sound I find a lot of similarities to their other albums not in no wave
