Discord Album Exchange - Week 2

Honestly I think this made me realize that I don’t really care for Idm. The only album from the genre that I’ve really loved is Selected Ambient Works Volume 1. I’m not really used to the genre at all so a lot of this album just sounded like random noises to me. It honestly kind of annoyed me for a lot of the albums runtime. There were a few moments that I did enjoy however. I genuinely enjoyed the first song and thought the second song was decent. After that though it just kind of fell off a cliff for me. Really wish I could’ve liked this more and hope that I can get a better tolerance for idm and come back to this later.

"To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Autechre. The textures are extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of music theory, most of the enjoyment of the music will go over a typical listener's head. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these warped farts, to realise that they're not just farts- they represent a culture of highly capable and resilient listeners; a TRUE battle of artist and consumer. As a consequence people who dislike Autechre truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate the sheer clusterfuck of masterfully orginal beats that totally do have a glimpse of generative AI. Hideous? Perchance.
