Tiny Mix Tapes

With Untilted, it's apparent that Autechre are still on top of their game.

80
Drowned in Sound
Like any Autechre album, it takes more than just a casual listen to really connect with what’s being thrown at you from the speakers, but exploration into their world is certainly a rewarding journey and 'Untilted' is just that.

Mojo

[With] great globules of synthetic sound filtered and processed into a litany of strange-yet-compelling landscapes.

74
Pitchfork
The latest from cerebral and refined UK duo Rob Brown and Sean Booth, who continue to work with complex structures but here flirt at times with metered rhythm.

AllMusic

Close to 15 years after their formation, Autechre certainly aren't launching any new styles, and there's no innovative music to be heard here, but Untilted does represent the duo returning to the green fields of their youth after a few years sowing their wild oats.

Untilted, their eighth album, is pitched somewhere between the skewed sonics of Confield and the more restrained Draft 7.30, and it's likely to alienate all but their most ardent fans.

The Independent
This, by comparison, is just a clutter of clicks and bleeps, the electronic equivalent of Tourette's.

Discord Album Exchange - Week 2

Submission from @sprainposting

Honestly I think this made me realize that I don’t really care for Idm. The only album from the genre that I’ve really loved is Selected Ambient Works Volume 1. I’m not really used to the genre at all so a lot of this album just sounded like random noises to me. It honestly kind of annoyed me for a lot of the albums runtime. There were a few moments that I did enjoy however. I genuinely enjoyed the first song and ... read more

AUTECHRE DEEP DIVE #8

Untilted (an album whose title my ADHD-addled ass misread for literal years) is by far the blandest album of the electronic duo so far in their catalogue, but its rhythmic dexterity and constant metamorphosis is still a stunning sight to behold.

After the mercurial and constantly evolving sound of Confield and Draft 7.30, Untilted sees the duo returning to more conventional rhythm and structure. Their previous records were shifting constantly, never arriving at a steady ... read more

sometimes i question myself HOW TF AUTECHRE MAKE THEIR MUSIC. the more i get into them the more confused i am.
well this album is still a pretty futuristic album with a lot of complex and avant-garde sound design just like my dear lovely Confield.
it just doesn't hit quite the same as Confield did lol
