Never had I thought one could make an album with a mix between prog rock and trap, and for it not to be shit.
Generic indie/garage rock with little energy. Tracks are fine, but nothing special. The only tracks that I truly liked were the first and the last.
Janet trying not to have ten-second interludes in her album challenge (impossible)
Some songs slightly overstay their welcome (especially Strength of the World), but otherwise the album is solid with a capital S.
Outside of Love Generation and World, Hold On, this is mostly a generic pop-house record. Not bad, just generic.
This is the McDonald's of nu metal, which itself is the McDonald's of metal. Still not bad, though. Again, just like McDonald's.
Guys, hear me out...
This album is truly an enigma. On one hand, it's full of songs that have a very similar sound, to the point where you half-know how the next song is going to be like. On the other hand, damn, this sound is good. This is one of the most consistent albums that I've heard, in a good way. It stays the same to give you that funk rock sound that you want to hear while being different enough to be somewhat memorable. The best way I can describe this album is comfort ... read more
Solid, although not impressive. They tried to go in a different direction and I think it paid off. I feel like I'm the only one who likes the mellow tracks.
Favourite tracks: The Pretender (obviously), Let It Die, Come Alive, Stranger Things Have Happened, Summer's End, Home
The first two songs plus Your Woman are good. Going Nowhere and the last two songs are decent too, although forgettable. Rest is very boring. Overall a decent album, pretty much what you expect from a one hit wonder.
105 minutes of pure bliss. A more than worthy contender for the best album of all time.
Steven Wilson is back at it again, this time with 2 tracks long enough to cover the entire LP side. Although Objects Outlive Us is noticeably weaker than The Overview, it's still an enjoyable listen, meanwhile The Overview is a masterpiece.
Very consistent and enjoyable. Would've given this a 95, but I have to substract five points for being censored.
When I saw the user score and the amount of reviews, I thought that this album would be really boring and uninspired. But boring and uninspired it was anything but.
I'm honestly baffled why this album has a rating this low (60 at the time of publication). The songs incorporate Slim's signature style pretty well and production is super clean, cleaner than on YCaLWB and HBTGaTS. (holy shit, these abbreviations)
It's a shame this album went under the radar, mostly because the big ... read more
