sueter7 - Todo Salió bien en la Sencilla Villa Quién

Great Indietronica album, especially from such a small artist. This needs so many more eyes on it.

I don't think this is investing early necessarily, but I think he's going to erupt in popularity soon

JPEGMAFIA - EXPERIMENTAL RAP

Production remains a high point, in fact the front half of this album probably has some of my favorite production from him, but ultimately the lack of evolution as a lyricist and rapper does kneecap this quite a bit. I also didn’t love how he used a lot of the samples on this. Lights was the most glaring example of this

Drake - ICEMAN

After listening to Drake literally all day I can officially say I don't care for him very much.

Lip Critic - Theft World
98

Raw Industrial/Electronic/Punk energy from front to back, with each track produced and written well and an enticing vocal performance.

Oddly enough, the album can sometimes lack distinctive qualities from track to track - but you won’t hear me complaining; It’s just more of the same great stuff.

LCD Soundsystem - LCD Soundsystem
98

The weak moments are really short in comparison to the 1 hour and 40 minute run time. I find the rawness of the production is extremely tasteful. It's definitely not as pristine as some of their later works - but it's still amazing.

M.I.A. - M.I.7

I wasn't gonna listen to this, but then I saw it got a Not Good from Fantano while having a not-so-low score on here and figured "Why not, lets check it out. Bad music is funny. Maybe the bald guy got something wrong again."

Yea, this is bad. I don't know if it was a conscious decision for every trumpet to sound like just a straight MuseScore midi instrument - but that's what you get. There's a beat or two here or there that could have become something cool - but ... read more

Magdalena Bay - Nice Day: A Collection of Singles

Yea I mean if you're looking at this as a full album or a greater musical statement it might not be the most cohesive thing - but these tracks individually end up being probably their best chunk of work yet.

Jessie Ware - Superbloom

Breathtaking and Sexy, not a moment went by on this that I wasn't thoroughly enjoying what I heard.

My New Band Believe - My New Band Believe

Spitballed thoughts because I'm supposed to be working

I think this is an excellent framework for their future projects, and the inclusion of some Jockstrap/BCNR people make me excited for the collaborations Cameron has in store for the future (and what that could possibly mean for potential collab albums) - but the singles definitely set my expectations in the stratosphere and they weren't met.

That's probably on me, and obviously I still think this album was great - but I ... read more

The live album of my favorite albums from my favorite band is one of my favorite albums. Who would have thought?

Kanye West - BULLY

Best Kanye album since Donda.

Not saying too much. Father was his best track in a long time though.

Slayyyter - WOR$T GIRL IN AMERICA

It makes me happy to eat my words sometimes, this is great.

I didn't enjoy the singles very much, and I was honestly not super excited to listen to this album. I was 100% certain this was going to be glazed to hell, end up as another album that I just say "Oh well, guess it's not for me" and move on. Figured wouldn't even want to write a blurb

Looking back, I don't really know what was coming over me. I usually fuck with maximalist production like this super ... read more

Tom MacDonald - Declassified
NR

This is probably the worst Tom Macdonald album I've listened to. I'd probably give it a 5/100 on my scale, but I couldn't bring myself to bringing the overall score up.

This is amazing, such a seamless blend of these genres and done with an attention to detail that really rewards deep listening.

eel - dead load

Super well performed avant/ambient Jazz. While there’s some sections that I think lose some of the creative flare the first leg has, the explorations in texture and timbre more than makes up for it for me.

To just spitball some general thoughts, I think the slap tonguing on the sax is used super super well, the production is super well done. I think harmonically some of the changes get a bit predictable as the album progresses, but as I said above the production more than makes up for ... read more

"That’s what I’M saying bro. Granted I’m a bit higher on these than most ppl but even the singles I’ve thought weren't as great as everything else are still spectacular. I think people got too used to how many dopamine rushes and massive moments were on Imaginal Disk - this album seems have a bit more subtlety and I’m excited to see what they do with it."
On ThomasBarbier's review of Racing Mount Pleasant - Racing Mount Pleasant
"I agree - I think the sound pallets and the focus on crescendos make it reminiscent of BCNR, but I don’t think that’s a bad thing. BCNR doesn’t have a patent on this type of sound - that would be like saying every other 4 piece hard rock outfit is copying Led Zeppelin because they sound similar. They have their own spin, and tbh I might even prefer this album to AFUT."

"Fire review as usual. I've never been a big Swans fan, but this album was the first of theirs that really clicked with me. It's so cool. Also, not to pile on with everyone else here, but I really appreciate your little segment about music discourse. At this point I hardly pay attention to it - but it's impossible to escape in these online spaces. Besides all that, I hope you're doing well. I would send you money on the basis of how enjoyable reading your review was, but this broke boy just finished college and is pretty deep in debt - I simply don't have the money to send your way. Take care!"

On CocaCola's review of Vylet Pony - Monarch of Monsters
"@vvsvlogs I see a pretty big difference in how both albums sound. The New Sound is more down the Fusion/Jazz/Non-Caucasian world music influence side of experimentation whereas this goes down the Noise/Post side of experimentation - and I think where people tend to derive joy from both of those is pretty different. Also, I would definitely call this a more "overbearing" listen than the Geordie Greep in that the sounds tend to be more overwhelming, production is a bit more on the loud side, etc. With that being said, both albums are really good."
