Lil Tecca - DOPAMINE
60

Lil Tecca is a TikTok hitmaker with tracks like Dark Thoughts, OWA OWA 500 lbs, etc. And credit to him, he's distanced himself from the one-hit-wonder allegations, but does he make the best projects? (The simple answer is no.) Production at points on this album is amazing and high energy, but extremely generic overall, and the tracks sound the same. (stupid way to illustrate this, but it's almost like mixing a bunch of different colors of Play-Doh and putting it on a plate, outwards ... read more

Westside Gunn - 12
74

Solid album, first half is a bit weaker to me, but you'll never listen to a Westside Gunn album and not take away a couple of tracks that leave you with a permanent stank face and a lasting appreciation of the boom bap/jazz production choices.

Addison Rae - Addison
63

Addison Rae is hopping on that wave, and in the right scenario/setting, this album has banger, club, fun jumping potential. Excited to see where the rest of her career/discography will head, but carried by production (I hope she can find what makes her unique from the rest, I hate to look at the music from this perspective, but it's an average album in an already heavyweight class of artist)

Ovrkast. - While The Iron Is Hot
64

Cool production, nice jazz rap, calmer flows, just nothing special to me. If I put this on the back I'd get a lot of work done though.

Lorde - Virgin
77

High headbanging moments, some tracks I would never listen to again, and a little sprinkle of middle-of-the-line tracks (MID). But, not a bad album at all, and great vulnerable writing from Lorde.

Kevin Abstract - Blush
64

A couple of bangers, cool performances, and seems like it was a enjoyable/fun album to create but not for me

VIVIZ - A Montage of ( )
63

Solo tracks were cool, enjoyed Hands Off My Heart, and catchy, but a basic middle-of-the-line K-pop album to me.

Quadeca - Vanisher, Horizon Scraper
79

Honestly had no idea what to expect coming into this album, as I only know Quadeca as an artist/rapper who made their name off YouTube (correct me if I'm wrong). But I was pleasantly surprised, crazy production, unexpected melodic performances, and cool concept, I will never be the biggest fan of the vocal style, but I appreciated it and get why many people enjoyed it.

Drake - Which One
45

tis ting is ass but in all seriousness very meh

Tame Impala - End Of Summer
70

cool track, could see why many will like it

Freddie Gibbs - Alfredo 2
87

COME THE FUCK ON, ALBUM OF THE YEAR, SOMEONE HIT ME WITH THAT MEN IN BLACK NEURALYZER SO I CAN HEAR THAT AGAIN FOR THE FIRST TIME(FULL GLAZE).

Red Velvet - Russian Roulette
62

Great Vocals and BASIC AHH TRACKS (shoutout Russian Roulette though)

Prince - Sign "☮︎" the Times
78

Sign O' The Times started with an absolutely great intro, but the songs that follow began to worry me. However, the album did begin to pick back up at It. Overall, great production, great vocal performances, just some weak tracks in my opinion that I would never listen to again.

Tyler, The Creator - DON'T TAP THE GLASS
77

SUPRISE TYLER ALBUM, considering the little amount of time since Chromokopia, this project is consistent in production and energy(I wonder how long this took to make, or if he was making it alongside Chromokopia). I'm not going to look crazy deep into this. I had fun, and it kept me moving, but there were just some songs I didn't gravitate toward.

Coldplay - X&Y
81

A consistent sound and, in typical Coldplay fashion, making sadder songs upbeat and catchy, still prefer Parachutes more but still a great piece of work.

f(x) - Pink Tape
63

Sounds fun and experimental/influential for the K-pop genre, considering the time of release, but wouldn't call it anything special for me.

Kate Bush - Hounds of Love
65

Should I put the headphones down, LOL? This album is highly acclaimed; it has probably been extremely influential to many, and I wanted to enjoy it, but I just couldn't get into the theatrical type of singing(not that she's a bad singer, and I mean no disrespect). The writing/lyrics were solid, though, and I know some of these tracks will grow on me, but sorry, I can't get into it.

U2 - The Joshua Tree
77

Except for the occasional positive mention of the band from a friend's parent, I had no prior biases going into U2/The Joshua Tree. Great high-energy moments and good writing throughout the album, but I did find myself getting tired of the punk-like vocals occasionally. I will mention this isn't the usual type of music I listen to, but it's a good album, and I am excited to get into more of their work when I get the chance. (FIRST LISTEN)

Dijon - Absolutely
75

Decided to give it a whirl after Swag by Justin Bieber, unfortunately, didn't have high expectations, but was genuinely surprised about how consistent the body of work was but had flawed moments, especially when the music sounds a little too raw, which I know was deliberate but I didn't enjoy it on certain tracks, for example, on a track like 'End of Record'. But call me hypercritical or a hater of the Bieber man, but I felt more emotion was portrayed in this body of work ... read more

Larry June - Until Night Comes
62

After Life is Beautiful, I was excited to dive into this project. I know that Larry June already has a more laidback delivery, but with efforts like Still Game Related and Until Night Comes, it makes some of the other songs sound low effort and boring, which the repetitive production from Cardo could be blamed. I was still able to get a couple of tracks off the project, and I believe it's just a little above average.
