Good album, interesting segments in the songs that were cinematic in ways, but either hit right or wrecked my ears.
L, 21 tracks of the same hooting and hollering with slight deviations at moments, but not enough to praise.
There's not much you can complain about: danceable and funky tracks for the pool, a workout, etc. My only complaint is that there was a three-track run in the middle that was kind of boring, but not bad.
I thought that OK Computer was great, but Kid A and In Rainbows were meh, so going into The Bends, I had lower expectations due to not being a fan of their sound, but I was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed the majority of this track list. Their bands instrumentation and content were never the issue, but the vocals always put me off, and on this work, it's actually listenable to me.
LOL (UH UH), I can maybe imagine the appeal at the time, but this is full of eh for me. I'm not the biggest Biebhead, so if this makes you feel nostalgic or you just like putting something catchy on in the back, I won't hate.
A nostalgic sounding album with some weaker tracks sonically for me, but filled with great substance and messages from Coldplay. Good, close to great album.
First off, RIP. I didn't learn this until the last song on the album. I think it's a great record with a great look into his versatility, as you have slower tracks and the more explosive (Eternal Life), as well as a couple of covers. I think with the opener, I expected it to be a bit boring(especially since I only heard his cover of Hallelujah before this), but I was surprised with the last-minute energy shift (great opener). A couple of good tracks I'd never revisit, but ... read more
I am not the biggest fan of the genre, so take my score with a grain of salt. It was a solid/good album with some high-energy tracks, insight into their past with FL studios and GarageBand, as well as catchy choruses occasionally. (I WANT TO F MY COMPUTER TOO *wink* *wink*)
I'm not going to hate, I know this band is loved but it is just not for me, and the biggest reason is Billy Corgan's (that voice is hard to get into)
After the disaster of his self-titled project, it was hard to be excited for a new drop, and hearing this portion would be rap-focused didn't help with that. Bryson Tiller is a nostalgic artist for me, so I know it's not about the lyrical content, but how it sounds sonically, and occasionally, I thought the tracks were good. Two of the features were solid, and sometimes Tiller rode these fucking instrumentals, but still, it's nothing amazing, and while I can get the appeal, I ... read more
On first listen, this is my least favorite studio album from JID (maybe it's this or DiCaprio 2), not that it isn't good, or that he isn't performing in typical JID fashion with insane flows, wordplay, etc. I just wasn't personally the biggest fan of those R&B-centric tracks in the middle (but 6LACK had a nice verse and TY$ was smooth), would've loved an actual Westside Gunn feature (but that's a nitpick, solid track), that Clipse track kind of disappointed me, ... read more
Enjoyed SOAP and Aibo, but the other tracks were either average or unneeded (cough* cough* STUDY)
My first Bad Bunny album, and as expected, it's full of upbeat and danceable tracks with the occasional tone shift covering topics like heartbreak and De-gentrification/trying to keep one's culture alive (which kind of came at a random time in the track listing, but I enjoyed the track and it was a pleasant detour). It's a fun album, I won't bash the lyrics B/C I DON'T SPEAK SPANISH, and some of the complexities may have been lost in the translations I was reading, but ... read more
I was recommended this album by a friend, and I want to mention that I'm not the biggest EDM head, but when listening to this album, it seems to be curated for live shows. Electronic music sometimes has this formula of having these mid-song interludes that I believe are meant to build hype and excitement for the drop, but I'm not the biggest fan of that, and it happens on this album a couple of times (IMO it kills momentum), which is also why I believe this album was meant for a live ... read more
Usually, Pop Punk can get a little headache-inducing for me, but I think it's a good album with strong catchy choruses and high energy. There are songs on this album that don't do anything for me and hit a certain part of my ear that makes me want to get the ibuprofen out (but that's all a personal problem). You can't deny the band is solid and fun, as well as Hayley Williams being a great lead. I also want to quickly mention songs like When It Rains and We Are Broken are ... read more
