The first half has a couple of highs, but is generally boring. I UNDERSTAND IT'S MEANT FOR LATE-NIGHT DRIVING. The second half is really solid, and raises the energy, but not enough to save the album, IMO.
I get why many would enjoy this. Ari Lennox has great vocals and passion. It's just so linear in sound that it makes it unenjoyable and difficult to get through for me.
Really good, production is enjoyable and experimental as expected on an A$AP Rocky album. Rocky himself puts on a good performance on a majority of these tracks, and I know a lot of people will eat up those psychedelic tracks, but some of the songs are forgettable in my opinion, and 8 years for Brent Faiyaz to be on the album, I like him and all, and the track is great, but really!?! (dumb nitpick lol). I think some of these tracks will continue to grow on me, but some of them will fall out of ... read more
Really came into this one excited. I've enjoyed their work as separate members, but this album gets stale, and while there is a run of great tracks, in my opinion, the features get in the way, and the production, while SCREAM GRISELDA got boring to me and really put pressure on the artist to carry the tracks with their cadences and flows, which occasionally fell short.
really enjoyed the 2nd half of this album, first part does have solid tracks but didn't hit the mark consistently for me
A couple of things failed this album: the lack of evolution, and people believing 21 Savage really could evolve (all I saw online was that the album cover meant something because it was based on Kerry James Marshall's work, all for there to be a song about DOG SHIT). But it's really just a typical trap album; it's not as bad as people are making it out to be, but it isn't good.
I didn't expect the reception of this album to be so negative. I know she's been recently under fire for various things, and I don't think this album is good by any means, but it's consumable and cozy. But at the end of the day, it's not for me; some of the songs are extremely bland/generic (sorry), and I would go to other artists for this kind of music.
Young thug for people who have wired headphones and drink matcha. Jokes aside, a real vibe, and while saying nothing half the time does portray emotion.
I'm glad Hayley Williams has created a project that has satisfied her and her fans. Unfortunately, a lot of these tracks lack the energy that I've grown accustomed to from her. But, very consumable and I understand entirely the glaze, but not for me.
Really chill album, nothing new, as well as being a tad dull and bland at times, but cool melodies and harmonies. Excited to see where they go next.
To be transparent, I've never really loved a Cudi solo project, so unfortunately, I came into it with some bias and low expectations. But with any album, I'm open to being surprised. Now, he's extremely influential and has made amazing songs. Still, this project's production feels very generic, mixed with Cudi's iconic melodies and hums (and it's really banking on the listener to focus on that), and it's very middle-of-the-road, average work. I think if you ... read more
1D was popping in middle school for me, and in typical dude fashion, I blew it off, but it's time to revisit it. There are definitely feelings of nostalgia, and I believe they arranged it that way on purpose. The songs can feel uplifting and catchy. Where it falls flat for me is what the hell is the mixing and mastering during the first five songs? It feels off; luckily, it suddenly polished itself out, but the album is still generic, with its bangers here and there. I do get the appeal, ... read more
I'm unsure if I liked this more than the OG, but in my opinion, the highs on this album outclass the highs in the previous one: great energy and jumpable tracks. FKA doesn't miss.
Nothing necessarily to criticize; it sounds very home-made, and I know that's his style. The vocals can sound a bit screechy, but he's not a bad singer. Just a cozy album you can throw on in the back but doesn't move me.
Similar to others' experience, is that while this album is introspective and the vocals are great and passionate, it doesn't really innovate or blow me away sonically. Nonetheless, a good and worthwhile listen.
Really good experience and deep dive into Mac Miller's addictions and thoughts at the time. It is a very 2010s-sounding album, but a lot of the tracks still hold up to this day, and what was that Gees song, I'm not a fan of it, but he has been consistent and creative throughout his career.
