It's good, solid. I think I'll need a couple more listens as this was my first exposure to McKinley Dixon, but I really do see the appeal with jazzy instrumentals and conscious lyrics that bring substance
It's energetic and gives me an uplifting graduation aesthetic. It's not for me, but as I've learned, when rating and discovering K-pop groups, there's a focus on dancing, performance, and the music almost seems like a background for that, not to say it's not well produced, but there isn't a lot of substance for me from some of these groups and this one lacks substance in my opinion but if it were on in the back or I was at one of their shows, it'd probably hit
Really good. Funnily enough, the 78 is on the lower end of these scores, but I love seeing that everyone is enjoying the music: super cinematic, great vocals, and a superb orchestra to match. I will acknowledge that this album may grow on me, as this was my introduction to ROSALIA outside of features, and, naturally, my ears don't love the sound of constant string instruments (very hit-or-miss). Still, once again, I'll emphasize that this was really good and unexpected.
Seeing Rich Brians' journey has been an interesting experience. From a meme rapper who bought into the sound of 2016-2017 to a more dreamy style of production and focus on melodic rapping. 5 years after his last album, he came in with an almost 8-bit production style and vocal effects that nearly made Rich Brian unrecognizable, but while there are really strong tracks, there are also plenty of weak moments. Still, it's a good listen overall.
Nothing to really dissect or disrespect, solid and dreamlike production, good voice, but doesn't move me.
This sound isn't for me, and I completely get why someone would be drawn to it. It's high-energy, with well-made melodies and dope instrumental breaks, and, the writing being rather cryptic, it can get any music fan excited to find themes. But, at the end of the day, this is unlistenable for me, unless I want to be hard of hearing at age 40, and I know I'm being hypocritical because I've loved loud albums like this in the past. I could turn the volume down, but damn, the ... read more
Nothing wrong with the album, it doesn't really move me at all but very consumable
Surprisingly, I enjoyed this album. Listening to this in the correct setting is essential (good headphones, alone, etc.). I could understand if someone found this boring, and at times, my brain wandered due to its emptier sound and robotic vocals. Still, Bon Iver's exploration of religion and choice sonically was pleasant to my ears.
Great album, I believe the subject matter may resonate with others way more, but sonically, Daniel and whoever else helped curate these songs create an angelic vibe. Dope layers on vocals as well. In my opinion, I don't think it's his best, and some songs are somewhat generic sounding to me, but still good. I can understand the overwhelming love.
I think people are overreacting. Is it the best and most innovative shit I've ever heard? No. Is it better than Currents or any of his prior works? Probably No. But y'all acting like Mr. Impala went into the studio and just pissed on the mic, there are touches of creativity and catchy songs
Very dreamy/ethereal production and vocals with a darker theme/tone, there are runs within the tracks that really give the sensation that you're ascending/floating. There are some tracks that, while still solid, are boring, but a really good project. I think Maria has really perfected this sound, and I'm excited for what she has next, and what The Marias have next
cool flow and cadence, nothing lyrically sticks out to me, but I am excited to see what Lexa Gates does next
I swear I came into this with the least amount of bias possible, and I was truly excited. But this album falls off a cliff after the first five songs, in my opinion. The first five have catchy moments and are super fun; I wouldn't revisit them, except for 'The Fate' and 'Opalite,' maybe. However, after that, it's super bland. MID, at least better than her last one.
thug wants to be lightskin!?!?!?! album mid as shit though, with most thug drops it all over the place with a hit here and there.
really good album. You can tell this is an older one because the mastering is poor on the majority of these tracks; I would've bet that hearing some of these tracks live would have been amazing.
I really appreciate this album; it's a look into how far this genre has come. The album itself brings hilarious lines, but I'm not the biggest fan of the peppy flows, and the amount of skits (while funny) doesn't do much for me, good though.
I understand the love for this album, great energy, and cool instrumental breaks, but I won't touch most of this again. I'm not personally a fan of how loud it is; it felt like, at points, someone was grinding something metal against my ear.
